Someone I know on another forum claims to have a gold Earthound cart from "some thing Nintendo did".
I have never heard anything like this, as my cart and every other one I've seen has been the standard grey.
Does this sound like a fake, or is it really a gold variant?
(I can ask for a picture if required.)

pictures or fake for sure. That, or a repro of some kind.

I also call fake. As in, one "thing Nintendo did" was not make gold Earthbound carts :)

I'm working on getting a couple of pictures out of him.
As of now, I call bootleg or custom. :/

Well, he claims that this "gold cart" is buried in a blob of junk in his room.
It looks like I cannot get any pictures out of the guy. :/
So, I guess we can write this up as a custom of some sort for now.
I'm really sorry for not being able to get any pictures out of this forumer and possibly getting a big lot of you excited for nothing.
Anyway, I'll keep trying for another week.
He'll brake down and look for it sooner or later. ;)

With how poorly Earthbound did on it's release in the U.S., I seriously doubt Nintendo would have gone to the trouble of making a gold cart.

With how unreleased the NES version of Earthbound was, i'd be even more suprised.
