Who's your favourite youtube.com classic game reviewer?

I've been watching MJCreview's videos lately and really enjoying them. They're relatively short, but pretty enjoyable. He does a lot of cross-platform stuff, particularly Doom and Mortal Kombat.

So, what are people's thoughts on the irate gamer? Personally I watch his stuff but find he's a total douche. I mean, there are AVGN ripoffs, but this guy is like a total clone, just not as good.

I've been browsing through several users and there's tons of people who flame whoever criticizes him. And every time I see a video with the AVGN, they show up and call him an IG ripoff.

Well, with video reviews, you can actually see the game be played as you listen to the review.

And if the reviewer is any good, he or she can show you WHAT the problems with the game are, such as bugs or a high difficulty. Print reviews are good, but words can only say so much about a game.

I don't think jedite1 is much of a reviewer, but he is a serious and dedicated story teller who is entertaining to watch. All my other favourites are already mentioned.

They both moved to Revvier.com because they protect there users and they get paid some pennies if you download and watch. Because of these companies, I think more and more reviewers will be suspended from YouTube in the future.

I don't have any kids but I feel the same way.

An f-bomb, if used properly, is a powerful and HILARIOUS weapon. Unfortunately I find a lot of game reviewers just use the f-bomb as "that word that just goes between other words". It loses all meaning, is annoying, and is for some reason usually accompanied with lots of loud noises/screaming, which I also hate.

I don't like many video reviewers aside from Angry Videogame Nerd. I watch MJCreviews sometimes, but he constantly mis-pronounces titles and seems to have a bias for anything Sega and against N64.

And he actually calls Super Smash Bros. "Super Smash Bro's" (instead of "Super Smash Brothers"), which I find especially annoying.

The only video reviewer I truly enjoy on YouTube is lophatjello, aka the Happy Video Game Nerd. He makes long, well informed reviews on classic games, most being somewhat obscure titles. Unfortunately, new entries trickle in at about once every two months. Even when he's off from school, it seems he doesn't have much spare time to create videos.

I used to like Angry Nintendo Nerd back when that was what he called himself. I'm tired of him now, though. I met a girl at...a thing...somewhere far away...and she told me she reviews games on youtube. I checked out a couple of her videos and she was pretty cool. Can't remember the name, though. Mother was her fav series if that helps.

My favorite reviewer is "The Fatt Mann Judgeth" He isn't a serious reviewer though. He only reviews crappy games like Fantasia, Batman, and Indiana Jones for the Genesis. However, he makes it really funny.

I'm not really much of a ranter/raver but I make documentary style reviews with indie music (which can be a HUGE turnoff if you're not a fan of that type of music)

This is just number 8 of the list (the one I think has the most user-friendly music) but there's also a two-part intro that talks about the history of neglected games on the NES and a 4 part segment on Wing Commander in progress. Actually, I recently got an e-mail from a software engineer from WC1 and 2 talking about how much he liked the vids and he stuck them on his blog. I guess I'd better finish that one then! : )

I don't watch many reviewers on youtube, but Classic Game Room (InecomCompany) and Turbo Views (spida1a) are my favorites shows. I especially love Turbo Views. It's informative, family friendly, and the host is extremely pleasant and relateable (if that's a word).

I don't like the Happy Console Gamer. I left a comment criticizing something and rather than responding to my comment, he deleted it. If he won't allow negative comments on his videos, what does that say about him as a person?

I used to really like CGR, now I can't stand him.

The "reviews" are almost entirely the same and he just keep reusing the same jokes. It gets old.

In fact, I can make this post into a CGR review just by mentioning flame throwers and truxton.

Normally I would say the Angry Video Game Nerd, but he's got his own website and primarily uses GameTrailers, can't really call him a Youtube game critic, so I think I'm going to go with AqualungGameReviews at this moment. He doesn't really have a lot in the way of entertainment as most of the more popular game critics, but he gets to the point and goes over both the good and the bad about the games he reviews while sometimes offering a little trivia, some tips, looks at some glitches and sometimes even gives a whole brief, detailed walkthrough. If you haven't heard of him, he generally does Atari and NES games, usually the more obscure unheard-of titles.

I second this. The Happy Video Game Nerd is awesome. While his character is a parody of AVGN, the enthusiasm Derek exudes for lost gems is convincing enough apart from the source of his inspiration. In addition to doing a great job of giving background info to a game, he has a strong on camera personality that makes his wit all the more poignant. Definitely one of the best I've seen. It's a shame the man can't receive a contract ala AVGN so he could devote more well funded time time to reviewing games.

Oh... one more reviewer who I think is worth noting: Rinry at RinryGameGame. Her videos are a nice mix of clever and cute. I don't know of any other retro video game reviewers who are quite as adorable as she is. Also, I learned how to make my NES games work consistently by using the wiggle method she showed on one of her videos, which was a catalyst for the renaissance of my NES and SNES collecting, so I have a sentimental sweetness for her too.
