View Full Version : Think I could sell these for $100 shipped?

I'm trying to sell these PC games, I have no space for them... I was going to sell all of these to a guy here, but he hasn't replied to my PMs so I'm guessing the deal's off.

I was going to ask for $100 shipped simply because of the size and weight of the whole shebang. I calculated that it's going to be around $50-60 to send this via UPS, taking into account the cost of the box and packing stuff... I can't send it via USPS because it's too big, and Media Mail is out of the question because my post office is run by dicks.

Anyway, here's the list of games, all are DOS and most are CIB:

Lemmings Revolution
Angel Devoid
Lost Eden
Crisis In The Kremlin
Powerhits: Movies
The Lawnmower Man
A-10 Tank Killer Version 1.5
Flash Traffic: City of Angels
Their Finest Hour: The Battle of Britain
Heroes of the 357th
King's Quest V: Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder
Leisure Suit Larry 3: Passionate Patti in Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals!
Leisure Suit Larry 5: Passionate Patti Does a Little Undercover Work!
Panic In The Park
Rolling Stones: Voodoo Lounge
Star Trek Omnipedia (CE, new)
Star Trek: Starship Creator (new)
Stellar 7
Outpost 2 (plus 1 CD only)
Command & Conquer
Monopoly Deluxe

Any thoughts? Opinions?

I'm by no means an expert on older PC games (actually, I would have gone to you), but I don't think I would pay $100 for that lot. Nothing in there seems that collectible, and if half of the price is going to shipping then that would kill the deal for me. I'd say you either need to figure out a more economic way to ship, or just sell them seperately. Is it possible to drive to the next closest PO? Or maybe break it up into a couple boxes?

Part of the problem is that all of those games are complete, and boxed. And you were probably around back when PC games still came in boxes the size of cereal boxes, unlike these days where they're sold in jewel or DVD cases... all of these are that big. Also, several of these items are quite heavy; they include very large manuals.

I calculated the weight of the items at around 35 pounds... but due to the size of 'em all, I'd have to use a pretty big box, and that drives up the cost around $25! And if the box is larger than they accept, I'd have to use UPS instead, which is a bit expensive.

If I were to break them up into smaller boxes, it would turn out to be a bit more expensive to ship, sadly. I don't like it. I really don't want to charge way too much money for these, but the shipping cost is out of my hands.

Sadly, shipping really sucks! My wife just gave me the beat down: "No more trades/sales" no more money out to send because I really don't make anything on any video games I have to sell.

Man the economy sucks...

Remember you can ship PC games via Media Mail still.

As I said, my local post office is run by dicks, and they don't give two shits about the rules. Media Mail is not for games, and that's final. Do I wish they weren't such uptight dickwads? Hell yeah, but I'm stuck here, and there's no alternate post office anywhere close by, so I can't do anything about it.

Print the postage out yourself on usps.com.

They'll refuse the package and send it back to me.

They don't even let me use Book Rate unless I bring the package up to the counter and let them inspect it before I seal it.

And this is because the POSTMASTER told them to, at least that's what they claim. I still think they're dicks.

Wow, they ARE dicks. I don't know what I'd do if my PO were like that..

Anyway, what about flattening the boxes? I know most collector's frown on that because it weakens the edges, but if it's the difference between getting the games and not getting them, I would think most people would go for it.

Maybe if anybody in your family, or friends or anybody you know/trust works somewhere that has a shipping and recieving service where they work. I've worked at places where people would ship personal items through thier company all the time. It'll still cost you, but I doubt it would cost as much as UPS. Other than that, I'd say the best thing to do is ask locally if people want to buy or trade them for anything or if you want to get rid of them bad enough, put them up on craigs list and say pick up only or something maybe?

I don't have any relatives that work at that sorta business... :|

And locally? Nobody's interested in these games. And Craigslist will most likely not be an option because the closest "region" is San Diego and that's about two hours away by car.

But I'll try it, nonetheless. Thanks for your comment.

(Edit: Holy crap, they added Imperial County! Guess I'll post it there now!)

You can ship from any post office even if you print the postage online.

Just click the button saying you are shipping from a different zipcode and enter the zipcode of the post office you want to ship from.

Then take it to a bigger/better post office :)

You might want to look into FedEx Ground, Fedex in general is superior to other shipping companies, and Ground is usually reasonably priced.

I think the value of those games is likely $100 or more sold individually, but you probably won't find a buyer at that price.

I'd at least sell the Sierra games separately and box the rest as a lot...

That is TOTALLY a matter of opinion. I will never use Fed-Ex in my area. They hire out their drivers and they have lied 4 times now and said they delivered items when they didn't just to meet a deadline and then deliver it the next day.

I've had to file 4 complaints with the BBB because of shoddy drivers.

So ummm yea , it's a matter of opinion.

Nobody on eBay wanted any of 'em on their own, hence me trying to sell them as a lot.
