Probably in a FAQ but as always, I don't have time to search...

Q: Does every Japanese Famicom game work in a US Nes? Or is it the opposite?

Thanks for your time.

At the very least you'll need a converter to go from JPN to US (and another for the opposite way), as the US / JPN carts use different connector types. Even then, Famicom games that incorporate extra sound hardware (JPN Castlevania III, for example) will not sound 100% accurate on the NES since the NES is missing two of the FC's audio channels (or something like that).

And some NES games wouldn't work right on Famicom because Famicom player 2 controller usually don't have Select and Start button. Some 3rd party clones may have the missing buttons but it's not often as it's not supported by Famicom games.

Or you can just crack a few carts open and find your own (http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/odd/scans/adapter.html).

I've looked around and found a better site with much more information and much more details at http://portable.0catch.com/famicom.html

I tried to email the web master but the email addresses (all of them) aren't valid :?

I have a couple of NES-joint-01 convertors that I'm willing to sell for $10. No shipping if you live in the US.

Decide what you want to collect for: NES or Famicom. Or you could buy both. Or any number of choices.

Check out my starting guide for people who want to get into the NES and Famicom.
