I got to thinking today. (uh-oh!!)
Most of us have these cool, huge collections that just build up...but what about the kids that don't? I thought it would be cool to find an only childwho's family is in hard times and do his room up with cool SMB wallpaper, Pac-Man sheets, and a tv with a gaming setup, ect. (It could be a girl too). If everyone who wants to do it could donate somthing small, my aunt could find us a family to do it for. WHat do you guys think? LMK.
Thanks!

That would be pretty cool. I'd donate something small if there were some credible setup.

Before everyone EXPLODES here.
I'd like to hear how this is going to work. I want to know your Aunt's name, I want to know how the person is being chosen to receive this. I want to know a LOT about the person who's getting this. I want some kind of contact information for the kid. If they're that bad off then they shouldn't mind a phone call from me, for example. I want to see pictures of the room when it's done.
It's a nice gesture but your track record suggests that this isn't completely legit - so make us feel confident about it.

I agree with Joe on all the stuff he said. I said I will donate something so DJCapcomBoy would see there is a interest and then give us more details.
I'm not about to start shipping stuff off to his aunt.

Yeah, It sounds like it's time for Changing Game Rooms/Trading Game Spaces. I could do with some cash, a designer, and a carpenter to help me. I'd want the BBC crew over though, because the TLC people usually do ugly rooms. Actually, G4TV ought to do something like this (although I wouldn't see it - thanks DirecTV).

I have this nagging feeling that if the Trading Places people got ahold of some room with a game collection in it, they'd staple the cartridges to the wall or some crazy shit like that.

Hey, at least they got rid of the lady who ran around painting spots on people's furniture.

DP-My aunt's name is Corrine Neild. Don't be sure she will do this it yet, I haven't asked. I think she works in that kinda thing as she has coordinated giving a family presents every christmas. I would let everyone see EVERY step of it, and mabye a live webcam or taping it woulod be cool. the kid would probably be in the 5-12 range (lets start a new gamer early!) and be in a house, but not well off.
DP, If you would like to aim me to talk about it, the SN is Capcomkid23. Anyone who wants to talk it over can aim me too.
Thanks,

Of course it's TYGC. I'd sooner donate to a toys for tots program that's already been established.

Interesting thought but I can imagine the little poor kid going to school saying how he just got cool Pac-Man sheets and then everybody teasing him becuase they are playing pokemon or some other game and never heard of pac-man. Sadly at this age he isn't going to appreciate classic gaming, so buy a Gamcube and donate it to a local childrens hospital if you really want to help.

If it's TYGC, I'd rather smash the toys under my feet and watch him cry rather than get involved in his latest scam.

Now that I'd be down with. But I think Goblin has an excellent point as well:

If we really wanted to do this, it might be better to organize something around Christmas. Have either people donate some cash to someone who is trustworthy and they can go shopping and donate what they get to an official Toys for Tots thing, or just go out and buy something and give it to your local one.

There was a similar topic on Atari Age, and it just disappeared.
Things that make you go "Hmm...", huh?
