Hi! I'm new here and I know that this may come off as a bit underhanded but I've posted a couple YouTube videos that I think would be of interest to people into classic gaming and I'd just like to share. :)
Also, I'm a bit new to this so any advice, tips, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Edit:
Here's a link to the Playlist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YdSqUmHcVM&feature=PlayList&p=C3D1AB5198DC7495&index=0&playnext=1)
New: Number eight is up!
I've got a top ten list in my head but any discussion on the actual list would be great. Especially because of the nature of the list! Thanks again!

Castlequest is a very underrated game. I like this one alot.

Hey, regarding the vids I think you need to raise the volume of your own voice by a lot for the first one, and I strongly disagree about Castlevania 2 or Zelda 2 being great ^^
Also an 18 minute intro is usually very, very long but you managed to keep it interesting. So I'm looking forward to the list.
A little OT but your music choices were excellent :) Would you mind posting a playlist? I could recognize The Knife, Ben Folds Five and maybe Mates of State in there?
Finally, some suggestions:
Eufouria
Willow
Crystalis
Gargoyle's Quest II
Kickle Cubicle
Little Samson
Cobra Triangle
New Ghostbusters II
Vice - Project Doom
Heavy Barrel

here's the Most underrated NES game? (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51149) thread that you might find interesting, it's in the Classic Discussions (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=19) topic in the Main Menu. There might be a top 10 knocking around in there somewhere...but Welcome to the forums!

I think you need to raise the audio levels for your voice and lower the levels for the music a little bit, if you want to have them at the same time that is. Otherwise, good job on the video.

I like the music to Jaws, actually. I woke up with it in my head the other day and played it for a while (on the dc). I'm pretty sure it sucks too. It kinda plays likes a slightly more fun ET, in a way...

I approve of the Flaming Lips and Bloc Party background music.
Pretty good vid. Nice editing/content aside from your mic volume like others have said.

It was mentioned above - Cobra Triange certainly had all the quality gameplay and overally appeal of a game like R.C. Pro Am but never really found any critical praise or high status of that series.

Thanks for all the encouragement and advice! I adjusted the music to voice a little bit for the second part of the vids but if still needs to be tweaked I'll definitely change the ratio up a bit more. I guess I'm just being a little overzealous in showcasing some of the music I like. :)
As far as the playlist this is it in order for the first two segments.
1. Silence by Portishead from The Third
2. The Gash by The Flaming Lips from The Soft Bulletin
3. Title Screen Theme of Super Mario World by XOC
4. Stealing Fat by the Dust Brothers from the Fight Club Soundtrack
5. It's 5 by Architecture in Helsinki from In Case we Die
6. Everyone Was Still by The Robot Ate Me from They Ate Themselves
7. Neverland by The Knife from Silent Shout
8. Slipping Away by Michael Andrews from the Donnie Dark Soundtrack
9. Die, Die, Die by The Avett Brothers from Emotionalism
Part 2
1. Feel the Love by Cut Copy from In Ghost Colours
2. This Modern Love by Bloc Party from Silent Alarm
3. Gypsy Jazz by Adrian Holovaty a remix of the Overworld BGM from Super Mario Bros. 2
4. Fire Eye'd Boy by Broken Social Scene from Broken Social Scene
5. One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces by Ben Folds Five from Whatever & Ever Amen.
Again, thanks for the advice! Any suggestions would be great too for the future eps.
As for the list choices I already have a top ten in mind although the order may be a little disputed right now. I purposely didn't put any clips from any games on the list in the intro vids so if you didn't see your underrated game it may be in the list.
It's kind of a weird list to compile because the nature of it means that I probably didn't come across it as a kid and the list will probably be very biased... then if there is a game that everyone agrees on, like Crystalis, then... does that mean it was neglected? So much to ponder! Ha! :)

My personal favorite 'underrated' NES game, hands down, is Pinball Quest. I love pinball, I love RPGs... put the two together and Alli's hooked.

Dig Dug II has sort of grown on me. I didn't like it at first, but, once I figured out the strategies and quit comparing it to the original, I started digging it (so to speak).

I hated Dig Dug II for the longest time. Then one day I sat down & really played it and now I love it. Anyone who hasnt played it for a good 20-30 minutes, should really take a second look at it. Great game, although totally different from the first dig dug.

I hear about Metal Storm quite often nowadays...I dunno if it's fair to call it overlooked anymore.
Also, beyond the gravity-switching mechanic, it seems a bit too straightforward and sparse.
Fire & Ice, now...

good job thus far, can't wait to see the next vids!
You've done a really good job so far, the intro was like a mini documentary of everything up to that point and is very informative for people who are new to the scene. The actual review of the game was pretty spectacular as well, again it was very informative and I liked how it focused more on facts than personal preference.
You seem to really have a knack for this and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your list.

Oh yeah, big fan of Pavement over here. :)
Again, thank you everyone for the kind words and encouragement. I wouldn't be able to finish up the series if it weren't for the comments, tips, and advice.

I love Bucky O'hare, one of my all time favorites!
Clash at Demonhead is a game not many people like, but I owned it as a kid and grew to love it. As a side scrolling shooter the game brings a little more depth then others since there's different directions you can take to get to the top of the mountain, and even a few little puzzles to figure out.

I think about half a dozen actually like these movies. I get pretty scathing reviews when I bring them elsewhere. What should I do different?

Hell, The Krion Conquest never got a fair shake in my opinion. The box art didn't help matters any since it made the protagonist look like she had just sent a stray little girl and her dog back to Kansas. Even though it plays (and looks) exactly like a Mega Man title, KC has a number remarkable differences in its own right. I'd play it over a few of the MM installments except MM2, but still KC was (and still is) a great game to play.

Easily the most underrated NES game is The Lone Ranger. That game was amazing, with sidescolling, top down, and first person (complete with the ability to use the zapper) viewpoints. I'll never understand why this one doesn't get talked about more it really is one of the best NES games that out there. If you haven't played it, give yourself one hour and I promise you'll be hooked on it. A truely classic adventure.

I don't know what to tell you, your videos are probably the best and most unbiased reviews on youtube that I've ever seen. I guess most people are used to the AVG (and clones) reviews, where a puberty bound kid screams obscenities in his high pitched voice.
I wouldn't change a thing, but if it's bothering you that much, just ask the people what the problems are. That is if their comments are more than how you suck and they pwn.

Wow, thanks for the encouragement. To be honest what I really enjoy doing are the more in-depth things like the Wing Commander series I started. I just thought that making a "Top Ten" would increase subscribers so that more people would be exposed to the more in-depth vids but that doesn't seem to be the case either! I'm terrible at reading the YouTube crowd. : )
I'm glad that I started the little NES vids it's been turning into a lot of fun but initially it just started as a whoring out technique!

Again, wow and thank you very much for the kind words.
I guess I'll just say it here so that people don't think I've stopped making the list. There won't be another one for a little bit. I'm a fourth year medical student and I was on vacation while I made these vids but now I'm getting into a particularly time intensive rotation (surgery/Ob-Gyn). It will be a while till anything new gets posted but I'll definitely finish off the list when I get to an easier rotation. Cheers and again, thanks for the support!

These are great, they really are. Also, I want to point out that I really liked the first two parts where you outlined the crash and what you considered to be a neglected game. I definitely didn't know about Nintendos policy of only 5 games per year, so I learned something!
But really though, these videos are great, and as someone else said before, probably the most unbiased reviews on the 'net.
Also, you win for using The Flaming Lips.

I just finished watching "intro part 1" and thought it was great. I'm definitely going to check out the rest. One tiny little nit-picky thing I noticed is that the name of StarTropics II wrong. It's Zoda's Revenge, not Voda's Revenge. But seriously, great job. I loved it!

Oh, haha, yeah. I totally messed that one up. The dumb thing is that I totally remember it as Zoda's Revenge too and for some reason when I looked up the release date on a big compilation list it said Voda. I should have trusted myself!

Excellent videos! Problem is, by tagging your videos "Top 10" you're getting lost in the vulgar crowd. Your vids really stand out from most, so you should give yours a "name brand," something unique that describes you and what you're all about. Don't worry about catering to the click-happy crowd.

Exactly. It gets much better after extended play. Retro gamers should definitely give it a chance.
