Hi guys,

I posted this link on another forum, and at least one reader was offended, so please don’t click if don't like politically incorrect video game humour.

That said, I think it’s a bit of a laugh.

The power ups. I knew it then... I know it know. Those are some iffy power ups.

Did this game get a console release?

I wasn't sure...

until I saw those purple "Elton John" sunglasses that pose as a power up.

Riot Zone for the Duo from what I could gather.

No, Riot Zone is a different game. It would be accurate to call Riot Zone a 'bastardization' of Riot City though.

WTB Turbo Duo..Paying top dollar

No, Riot Zone on Turbo Duo is a completely different and what looks to be much better game. Never heard of this one until now.

I beleive this game is a product of the 80's personally
the gayest thing was the

gay KKK that was reviewed on sydlexia (http://www.sydlexia.com/news/index.php)

Girlie power ups.

Well the power ups is okay since this game was most likely made in the 80's when purple and pink was in before the big homo fad in the 90's that left us with
everybody walking around like the grimreaper.

Not gay at all. About the intro screen? This game looks like a teen gimick more then a pro-homo fiasco.

If Riot Zone had left in all of the not-very-ambiguously gay bits, it might have something other than a very generic beat em up. Though I do love the cheesy Japanese cock-rock soundtrack and the fact one of the enemies looks exactly like Simon Yuen from Drunken Master is good for a laugh.

But that doesn't explain the perfume bottle.

Yeah, those power ups are more than highly questionable. A pink Mirror, Perfume bottle and those Elton John sunglasses?!?! Never heard of this game before. Thanks for bringing it to our attention! It made my day.

yeah my friend showed me this game on an emulator.... it's actually more sexually questionable when you see it in motion! as far as i know, it was an arcade release only.

Gayest game ever is Cho Aniki. Did I spell that right?

Not gay at all.

If you don't think Riot Zone is gay, you're in some kind of PC coma.

....What the Hell are you talking about? Are you trying to insinuate that homosexuals wearing colors created the goth movement? Or are you saying that everyone wears black now(?) because they don't want to be considered 'gay'?

Either way, thats a bold statement.

Sorry, the gayness level of this game doesn't come close to Violent Storm.

I'm glad someone other than me remembered the true heir to the gayness throne. If theres ever a game more gay than Cho Aniki I'm not even sure I want to see or play it. But still, this Riot Zone game is more than a tad on the gay side:bareass:

Well, they're supposed to be things dropped by your girlfriend/sister/whatever, who you're trying to save.

Ultimately this game isn't any more "gay" than every other muscle-guy game. Wrestling games included.

People are seeing things. The overuse of purple and day-glo green is just a result of the limited color palette, and frankly the game was pretty ugly through and through so it's no surprise the graphics are odd-looking.

You're basing the gayness of this game on limited color palettes? Now that is funny, lol.

Hmm...well, not just the colors, but how the graphics are composed. Play the game a bit and you'll see it's not perfect by a long shot, so the fact that one person imagines one poorly-drawn dude is ogling the phone guy shouldn't be surprising.

To his credit, the writer of the original piece tries to back up his "look at who these enemies are referencing" argument, and while I dunno if he's actually right, he seems to know his semi-obscure gay icons pretty well (in two hemispheres, at that)!

Of course, we all know that many beat-em-up games reference various things, so if it did reference gay things I wouldn't be so surprised. My initial response to these things is usually "lol those people and their overactive imaginations," though. And it's usually true.

I checked out the game again in MAME - just for a minute - and it's starting to come back to me. The game is pretty detailed, but it's still "artistically challenged."

Anyhow, if you want to see a really strange beat-em-up (and don't care about hobo bj action), then you gotta check out Toaplan's 1993 title "Knuckle Bash." This author would have a field day with that one, I'm sure...

Yeah but that only has one scene of gayness. Of course, it's a REALLY gay scene, but still only one.

I just checked out Knuckle Bash in MAME, and laughed my arse off!!! That is one bizarre game... and I think it even beats Riot City in homoeroticism department. Cheers for the heads up, I'll show my friends, they'll think it's the funniest thing ever.

Well, that one scene sure makes those par-fume bottles and Elton John glasses look pretty normal.

Gay? Yes. Gayest? Heeeeell no. Cho Aniki Ai is the gayest I can think of, but I haven't playest all the Cho Aniki games yet with all their flying penises and such. Awesome games, though, I've gotta admit, and not just the shock value.
