That is weird. I noticed the other day while I was looking through there, someone was getting sextoys spam in their comments.

Hmm,seems like a hack/bot found a way to put spam in picture comments via the room of doom .

I haven't went to the pictures to check the spam comment,as I figure it's some sort of link that I don't want to click on..

I also tried to "Report Abuse" as it says in the emails..

But they all bounced back to me.

This has been going on for a long time. I can turn off commenting but then real people won't be able to comment either. I don't have any way of preventing the spam.

That site is experiencing other problems as well, and probably needs a good upgrade to get things back on track. I'm not sure when I'll have time to get to it, unfortunately. For now I'd sit tight and delete the comments, and if it gets really bad I can turn commenting off.

I don't know who decided it would be a good idea to have all the galleries sorted randomly instead of by date last updated like they used to be, but I'm going to make the record very clear:

That was a bad idea.

With the already slow server, this change just made navigating a slow site a million times worse. Now it's like finding a needle in a haystack at dial-up speed.

Captchas? PIN verification? Use an anti-spam IP filter list?

I don't know what software you guys are using, but there's tons of anti-spam tools out there. It might be a bitch and a half to install them, but they're worth it.

The problem is that the site's been abandoned. It's using an ancient version of Gallery - v1.4.4.

Gallery is up to version 2.2.4 now.

I just was flooded with 7 more BS spam comments..Using changed bot names for each comment..

I'm noticing it because I'll get an email for each comment..but now I turned off the option to get an email via comments..

I haven't been able to get logged in until today..I'd get an Error.

I removed my Room of Doom picture because of the spam that was in the comments in addition to it being a really old picture. I've been wanting to do some new pictures and what not, but I'll be moving out of my parents house sometime in the next year and will require just another update. *sigh*

I learned about DP from the videogamecollectors.com site, just amazing what some people have and astonishing to see those arcade rooms. It is a beast to tackle and attempt to translate all of the current galleries over with all text in proper format, but maybe a clean slate isn't too bad an idea either if users were notified of an update and to backup their profiles locally until the site was back up.
