If there were a 'Top 5' or 'Top 10' what would they be? Incredible Wizard is a given. But what else is genuinely fun?

I don't know myself about the best games for the system, although I did really like Wizard, and remember having a lot of fun with the system at a friend's house back when it was current, BUT, there is a thread over in Classic Discussions that touches on this very topic.

I am a huge astrocade fan, and I am glad to see someone else here who digs it. The bally system is a unique classic console/computer, and it has some great games on it. I dont know what type of games you prefer, but here are some of the games that recommend that are not too expensive either. There are usually some cheap games on ebay, also there is atari2600.com that carries a good selection of games. Here are my favorites
In no particular order:
1. Artillery Duel-it is kind of like scorced earth for the PC, and very well done. This is my second favorite version of the game(I prefer the Vic 20 version). It is a two player game though, really only downside. Each player has a turrret and you use power and angle to blast each other. My personal favorite on the system
2. Dog Patch-another two player game that is really alot of fun. Each player has to use thier gun/shotgun to shoot a can. The goal is to shoot the can off the other persons screen.
3. Muncher-a little more expensive, but it is a nice clone of pace man. The cool thing about this version is that Pac-man can stop.
4. Galactic Invasion-clone of Galaxian and a pretty good one too
5. Cosmic Raiders-fun little spin on the whole defender space thing, fun title
That will get ya started, you might also want to think about a multicart, which has everything you will ever need in one place.

I love the Astrocade as well. Here are a few other recommendations:
Astrocade Pinball : Great in that you use two controllers to imitate pushing the flipper buttons on an actual pinball machine.
Clowns : nice port of the classic arcade game
Gunfight : actually built into the system.
Seawolf : another classic 70's port
Astro Battle/Space Invaders :cool port of the 1978 Taito masterpiece.
Sneaky Snake : interesting Centipede clone
Ms. Candyman : weird ms. pac-man type game. Definitely not just a clone. Has very unique attributes.
Solar Conqueror : very cool space shooter.
ICBM Attack : fun and challenging Missile Command type game.
For the last four games, especially the last one, you really need to get the multicart for. That is unless you have a fair amount of spare cash and patience.
You can get the multicart at the link below. It's fairly cheep but it has it's drawbacks. The various games are accessed via dip switch settings. Plus the chart that came with mine telling which game = which setting was almost all incorrect. I had to go through each possible setting and write my own list. Still it's a great item to have.

Wow,
This brings back memories.
When it first came out I played Tornado Baseball, Gunfight and Scribbling so many times that I probably eliminated any possibility that these would ever be counted as favorites, but I probably played them more than any other games.
Clowns quickly became my favorite when it arrived and I still like the game.
Football was also a fun game too and I was able to get quite a few hours out of that with my friends.
I also liked Galaxian (Galactic Invasion) and later, of course, Incredible Wizard.
Muncher became my favorite in the mid-1980s. I was married by then and my wife preferred Space Fortress. Also, despite it being "old technology" by then, my Astrocade became the talk of the neighborhood kids one summer when they heard the Space Fortress explosions one summer. They were great fans of Amazing Maze, Dogpatch, and Artillery Duel as well. Playability was the thing about these games that kept them fresh for these kids.
One game I seldom hear mentioned is soccer. With the Bally controls, you had a lot of flexibility in play. Plus, when you used the four-player mode, you have a separate controller for the goalie. I find it tough to get four players interested these days, but it was fun back then.

I don't know if anyone has looked into the multicart I mentioned but I feel I must withdraw my endorsement for 8bitdomain. Having read the thread on AA, which is linked below, concerning another one of 8bitdomain's products, I have to advise everyone to avoid doing business with them. I appears that many customers have been ripped off outright. Funds were submitted but no product was ever delivered. No response whatsoever has been given to the wounded parties either. This is sad to see in many ways. There are so few sources of technological expertise for our retro gaming/computing hobby. It's very disappointing to have one of those in existence turn out this way.
