Rockband Microphone - Cable Torn In Half

So either my son or my Dog decided to chew through my Microphone. I'm assuming after the converter type deal, it might convert into a regular USB cable, but it's torn before than and seem to be made of twisted stand wiring (Think that's what it might be called?). If I solder this back together, would it still work?

if soldering doesn't work, you can always replace it with any old usb mike.
