I was doing my daily Nintendo DS search on Ebay when I came across this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-DS-Lite-30-Games-in-1-Card-Game-Pack-Limited_W0QQitemZ160246907189QQihZ006QQcategoryZ13 9973QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I was wondering what the best way to get this pulled / get the seller banned was?

See the "report this item" link at the bottom? Click on it and follow the instructions.

Then report his ass to NOA directly.
http://ap.nintendo.com/report/

I would've reported him to NOA, but they're asking for my phone number, and I'm not giving that info away. :P

If you look at his feedback he's sold a bunch of these for around 60-70 bucks.... What a scam. I reported the auction early today, but it hasn't been pulled yet...

Ebay's officially indifferent towards bootleg items of any kind. I swear it takes like 10-15 individual reports before they finally pull something. They're too busy implementing horrible new features like Best Match and the DSR star ratings.

eBay's official policy with regards to "illicit" items is well known. Even game copiers aren't meant to be traded, let alone listing that clearly break laws (i.e. this one).

eBay has staff dedicated to checking over illegal auctions issues; the problem is that there don't seem to be many people working on it so they're always struggling to keep up.

I would agree that eBay's response time on such things is usually horrid, but we could at least recognize that they intend and would like to do the right thing.

They sure as hell pulled my FF7 NES cart auction quickly though. :P

I see these all the time and always report them. They usually take a day or two to get pulled, but they always do. Unfortunately in this case it's a buy it now, so it's quite possible that he'll sell it before they read our reports.

I reported this as well. I doubt eBay will do anything.

Nice to see so many Ebay Police helping out poor innocent victims.

It's like I tell cops who stop people for going 5 miles per hour to fast.

"Don't you have something better to do, like solve a murder or something?"

Maybe you guys can do something that will actually help someone or fix a real problem. just a thought :)

We're already in the thread, we already clicked the link, why wouldn't we report it? Cause we're too lazy? Hmm jonjandran?

Saw a commercial recently with a famous female singer. It was like one of those starving children commercials but it was for mistreated animals.

Thought to myself. "With all the problems in the world she chooses animals."

Guess people don't matter much or she values animals more. Hmmmmm.

Just saying I think this world has a lot more problems that need solving other than video game rom buying/selling. That's all.

I figure you'd have something better to do than bitch about us reporting scam auctions.

Shouldn't you be out there saving the world or something? Christ.

Would you like me to start yelling profanities at you? Or maybe you think "Christ" is a curse word?

Seriously, why bother complaining about us? What made you go "Oh, I know, I'll go bitch at people for reporting illegal auctions!" this morning? It's not like you're the one selling those things. We're not affecting you directly. We just felt reporting the guy's illegal activities was the right thing to do.

You ever wake up one day and think to yourself "Man it sure is easy to have fun on the internet" ?

I mean all you have to do is pick a random thread and challenge peoples sense of honor/morals/ choice in fine wines, women, or clothes.

Next thing you know you have the fish on the line and you're reeling them in.

It's a fun way to pass the time. Better than dinner and a movie.

And if you haven't noticed I really don't care if you report auctions. Have fun and enjoy yourself.

Oh by the way. How many people that reported the auction actually own a DS flashcart or a famicom multicart or anything like that ?

Ooops might have hit the hypocrite nerve there for some people did I.

If you really want to get picky then don't you think spending money on video games when there are starving kids is pretty stupid? I mean, kids are dying because you want to play Pac-Man!

I know what you're getting at, but I think reporting any kind of illegal activity is worthwhile. Why pick and choose, it's not like you only get a certain number of fouls to call.

Annnnnyway, how about we leave this be and all go do something more productive than surfing the ol' internet?

One thing trolls like you never consider is how people will react after they see pranks like this one. It's fun and games for you, but maybe someone will see how you act and avoid trading or buying stuff from you. Hell, until now, I thought you were an OK person. Now... not really.

Maybe me not dealing with you won't hurt you at all, but I wonder how many people will think twice about buying from, selling to, or trading with you now?

It's the internet. Serious fucking business.

I don't spend money on video games. I illegally download them so I can give my money to starving kids.

Now how messed up would that be? LOL

Here's some icons to show you guys I was just messin around.:cheers: :snuggle:

Thanks that actually made me laugh out loud. Good stuff.

People wouldn't trade with me because I said there are more important things in life than being an Ebay Police.

Yikes I would look at your comments and realize people might not trade with you because you might send them that bug that's stuck up your...... well you know. :)

I have never been a Troll and I could care less what YOU think about me. :bareass:

Oh and it wasn't totally a "prank" I do think it's totally stupid to report things on Ebay.

Oh and are you that thrilled about people reporting your "illegal" Chinese games on Ebay so you have to go to GAMEGavel to sell them ? :)

You know, I have some DS flash carts that I tried to sell on ebay not too long ago (with no games installed, just the carts I purchased) and ebay pulled them because someone reported me. I think it is bull sh*t honestly, as while they aren't officially licensed, they didn't contain any games and were purchased by me at a store. Now I can only resort to selling them outside of ebay because of these rules.

This guy however is selling one WITH pirated games. Why should he be able to do that, while I cannot even sell my "clean" cards there?

So with everyone is it more of a "Well if I can't do it neither should he" ?

If so that doesn't sound very mature.

But then again I might do the same. Revenge is a sweet thing once in a while :)

Yeah, it may sound immature, but at the same time, it isn't entirely fair when it comes to an online community that is suppose to be so "just".....hehe.

How would you feel if the mods here allowed someone to sell a spindle of pirated discs, and then when you tried to sell them you experienced some sort of wrath?

Oh well...just a little rant with a different perspective I suppose...

Meh I try to be good and treat people very fair and I get screwed all the time.

But I will still try to be a good fair honest person.

Just don't expect people to treat you that way back. You'll be disappointed :)

Oh and I don't think I have ever sold anything copied/downloaded/stolen or touched by a thief........not that I'm aware of

is that this is the definition of trolling. Then a post later you say you aren't being a troll? I don't get it. Now I suppose I'll be belittled, too. oh noes!!!!

Trollin trollin trollin, boy my A$$ is swollen , feels like I've been beat with RawHide....

There's a difference between being a TROLL and one time in 5 years picking on people who have nothing better to do than report auctions on Ebay which are technically NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS :)

But hey, I've been on this Forum a lot longer and contributed a lot more than most of you guys and I'll be here when you move on , so whatever :guitar:

...

The funny thing is that I thought this was written by someone else about your first post. :D But that's neither here nor there.

I for one would be pretty upset if I was selling legit copies of games and someone was stealing my buisness selling illegal copies that are banned on ebay.

Reporting things to make yourself feel high and mighty is one thing. Doing it because you feel it's the right thing to do in a world of moral decay...that's commendable.

The only ambiguity here comes in telling others you did the right thing. Integrity is, after all, doing the right thing when no one else is watching. But since we can't judge peoples motives then I say just let it be.

After reading this thread, it's a shame Ebay did nothing to stop the auction from finishing. Still, I've got to wonder. When doing the right thing, reguardless of motive becomes fodder for people to belittle you because your somehow not doing what they feel is good enough, what's the point? If you see someone breaking the law, shouldnt you report it? Does it matter why I report it? Just because it's not feeding starving children in Africa does it make it any less of a responsibility? Does it matter if the person they are stealing from is richer or poorer then the person comiting the crime?

jonjandran
06-05-2008, 05:16 PM
The why is the ONLY thing that should matter. The why is the entire reason for the action. The why is the underlying issue.

That is of course if you believe in a consequence for the thoughts/feelings/actions we have.

If you don't believe there are consequences for the reasons we do things, then no the why doesn't matter.

All a matter of perspective I guess.
