We have no confirmation or sourcing of our own on this, so, we don't vouch for its accuracy. But we will be watching the clock at 10 am Crecente time tomorrow, as CrunchGear is rumormongering that Microsoft will announce Blu-Ray Xboxes will be shipping by Christmas, at that time. Rumor has it they'll cost less than an Elite.

What are the odds that this is going to happen? If so, will it be a blu-ray movie player or will games ship on blu-ray? Having just purchased my 360 I'll be pissed if this happens

If this happens, I can almost guarantee that the BR dive will only be used for movies. There's no way MS would be so stupid to alienate such a large portion of their fanbase by releasing games on BR.

This rumor's been going on for awhile, btw....

So you mean to tell me if you bought an ipod you'd be pissed becuase they announced one with more space like a month later?

anyways I think it'd be cool but it wont give me any added benefit till i get a tv that does higher than 480i to be worth it. but it would make my decision between a 360 and ps3 harder.

Blu Ray Xbox 360 eh?

What I really want is a dam 360 that does not break, will not break, under $250

The 360 is near three years old, and all we have seen is a miserable $50 price break

I dont want my 360 to do more shit, I want my 360 to cost less shit

Considering how the economy is going to shit? Be glad they haven't -raised- the price on us...

They could release Blu Ray games like HD DVD did with their movies. Put the HD DVD side on one side of the disc and the standard DVD side on the other. Would raise the production costs of the discs, but it would placate the masses who already have a 360 and don't want to upgrade.

That doesn't make any sense.

The thing would still be capable of playing 360 games off DVD, why would they want to do that when a game on a DVD plays just fine? Especially since DVD load times are quicker anyways, and you couldn't take advantage of the storage capabilities of blu-ray since you'd have to have the content be able to fit on the DVD side.

So what other purpose would there be in doing that?

Games aren't going to be coming out on blu-ray for the Xbox 360. They are not going to alienate 20 million customers, there's no purpose to it and no reason to fear or suggest they do it, in my opinion.

Microsoft's secret plan to take up even more space in already crowded gamestores

(I doubt it, since everybody already has to push/pay for retail space.)

I soooo associate Blu Ray with PS3. Seems wrong to have it in 360. Anyone else feel it?

Well, there was no announcement today. Let's see what happens getting closer to Christmas.

Bring it on... If a 360 had a Blu-ray in it, I may actually buy one... That and if the RROD has been fixed. I guess it would suck for all the current 360 owners though.

That's MS though.

Wouldn't it make more sense to do another external drive, a la the HD-DVD player?
