PROTIP: Stop hanging out at GameFaqs.

Quoted for truth.

As I've said before, GameFAQs is great for cheats and FAQs, but stay away from everything else.

I've heard of many people having problems with the boards at Gamefaqs. I guess they like certain people and not others.

I know I went to a forum there for a game (I can't remember which) and it was some people using it as a fan club for R. Kelly or something. Then I heard about people getting legitimate (like MarioMania's) posts deleted, while the fan clubs stayed.

I'm thinking you could start up pretty much ANY Master System conversation on THIS forum and get a pretty good response, so what's the worry?

Let's try.

Hands up. Who thinks "Cloud Master" is a good game? If so, why do you think it received so little fanfare or even recent discussion?

+1 for Cloud Master

(runs back to SMS collection and plays Cloud Master again, cursing the need for a better converter box while playing old-school games on HD Tvs, wonders why SMS hasn't gotten any love lately, remembers addiction to Lost Planet: EC Colonies Ed. Akrid Hunter, remembers to return to post and close parenthesis) :P

As of today, GameFAQS merged the system boards. i.e. "Saturn Hardware" and "Saturn General" simply became "Saturn" -- which is something they should have done years ago.

I browse the Gamefaqs when I'm bored, of course I never get anything out of it, unless I check out a board for an obscure game and find some kind of news on there.

Yep. The splits were horrible, in the first place. Pointless, and pretty much killed many older system boards. Though, there are some odd quirks. The Saturn board's description is "Saturn - Action" :)

Stay away from the message boards at gamefaqs. Gamefaqs is a great site for finding faqs or codes for a game, but thats it for the most part.
That site has a lot of trolls, joke accounts, criminals or insane forum members.

Here is proof: I read something disturbing on gamefaqs today. A person typed a person should get shot for downloading one of today's wiiware or vc releases. That poster typed that because he or she was angry about today's releases. The truth is today's releases are decent depending on what you are after. As a lurker, that poster's behavior is immture or need some professional help.

Gamefaqs does have smart or good posters but there are not a lot of them despending on what forum you are on.

Atariage or here at DP are designed to have good discussions about games like cloud master.

I never understood this bad rep about GF. Actually, to be more specific, its current system boards are AWFUL, but check out some of the "retro" system boards, like Saturn and SNES. It's not that bad, and there are posters there as knowledgable and friendly as you could find on any other given forum. I stick to those boards, and find them to be pretty good. Discussion is a bit slow at times, but c'mon, these systems are pretty damn old.

Stick to the right places, and GF is great.

Agreed.

Having message boards for EACH AND EVERY single game is a major plus and is a feature I don't think any other website has. The purpose of course, is to discuss the ins and outs of a particular game in extreme detail with like-minded players. So while you get boring topics like "Is this game good?", you also get threads like "is it possible to complete Final Fantasy IX in under 12 hours in order to obtain Steiner's Excalibur II, while at the same time going through the game without leveling up (where possible) in order to acheive maximum potential final stats, while also not missing any items/side quests that are deemed "missable"?

And from the discussion boards spawns the Final Fantasy IX "Excalibur II + Perfect Game Guide" (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197338/41181).

Which I hope to do, someday.

QFT. Avoid the modern hardware boards. That's where the idiots congregate. Older system boards, and sometimes older game boards (provided the game is popular enough) are great, though. As is Classic Gaming, for the most part.

Yeah I remember that news story and it sounds about right for a average gamefaqs user slash douche bag. A majority of the users on those forums are strictly narcissistic and go by that code which is evident by the majorities demeanor. The majority of people that I have encountered on that forum are bigger trolls than me and they don't know how carry a decent conversation. Like everyone says in this thread there are exceptions with a few smart users (the minority) , which I invited to this forum. Afgiant and Edgewalker (Chainsaw Charlie).

Also kudos to cloud master for being so awesome , you get to shoot shit off a cloud.

What does annoy me is seeing threads that don't have anything to do with the games, because some douche decided that "this board is mine." And yet they stay!

I'd love to see those get cracked down on.

While I still browse the message boards there about 1-2 times a week, I really don't post anything there anymore. There seems to be a lack of interesting topics in general, and sometimes someone will keep bumping the topics just to keep them from being purged, even when there has been no new posts for quite some time.

Now, if only I know of a way to delete my own account there, I would do it in a heartbeat...

Well, there are a lot of controversial texts on the Internet. Like arbitrary decisions and traffic of influence. The worst is that into a lot of Forums there are some individuals that clearly make off-topic posts and insist in making some ridiculous persecution about the other potentially (posivite?) users.

Believing that the legend about the Spider (http://www.planetozkids.com/oban/spider.htm) is off-topic on the D&D board. Even if almost any legend is allowed into the game (there are expansion books covering various religions). By the way, I think that there should be darkness versions of the story about the Moon and the Spider.

There was even a re-released DVD collection about the cartoon series.
[tip: only the 'god' Dragons posses the Power to create new dragon beings and using part of the Aspect of Io]

The same is valid for Heroes of the Lance and others. Even worst, there are several contradictions in the story that was written and what the authoress stated around ...

Like when people insist that gambling is not considered paranormal. In fact the lottery is one of the few games that could be considered a extraordinary evidence of Extra Sensorial Perception. Sure that most people never get the chance to use this more than three times in a roll.

Gambling, it is also one of the first things that the programming books try to teach for the beginners. For example, how to use the Monte Carlo Method to generate mathematical analyses of games. Some people even got disturbed about it, pretending to have false scores.

Beano/Bingo ... There are a lot of games.

Similar distortions of semi-epic proportions also could happening in comic & books.

About Cloud Master it is a very nice game, some people think that this is based on some sort of legend. This series also has entries for other formats and even a Arcade game. It is one of the fancy titles on the SEGA Master System library.

Ahhhh, Cloud Master, one of my fave games of all time! How can you go wrong with shooting flying bowls of ramen, flying mahjong tiles and shooting pigs? Why the arcade version (Chuka Taisen) isn't on the Taito Legends compilations (because it is originally a Taito game) is beyond me.

This game even was my choice for the old MAME club. :D

Oh, and IT IS based on the legend of the Monkey King... the same legend that Dragonball was originally based on.

GameFaQs is a great video game website. I get everything from there :)

Also, their message boards have huge morons on them, but I'm not gonna lie, I go to the NFL boards over there.

There are some nice (Puzzle) game on the International High IQ Society.
Chess
Stock Market Challenge
Smart Person of the World Challenge.
Some on-line games.

There are some nice and some not so nice things about the Creative Force. Even some strange things about Lottery!

It is also weird that their sometimes misses some possible hints about newer releases. Much like old re-swapped titles for classic systems. For example, the Legend of Wukong (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=122555). Their seems to have some trouble with Mongoloid people and I.Q. plus some ancient legends ... After all if there is a great difference between the I.Q. levels communications could be troubleshoot.

Sure, it is polite to use a good tone in public forums. Even particular forums could have some weird policies .

Cloud Master is nice ... I can understand releasing this game state wise instead of that other "cult" game (Power Strike) that has a censored word removed (in fact their removed a entire megabit of the game, including the intro). After all it is better to have a game about a cloud than a game about that *censured* word. Another strange example is talking about Power Strike II, since the music test do not work in the Genesis Power Base Converter this game would not make much good in the United States either ...

Virtua Racing and the special chip, this is a great cartridge. Unfortunately this does not work on the revision 3 of the SEGA board. The same could be true about the 32X. Maybe because of it (and lack of financial resources) that SEGA phased out the special chips, after all their do not make a good use of money for the newer boards. :smash:

I think that a lot of persons do not have (possess) real friends. Otherwise it is very weird to believe that their can not find for the correct answers!!!

Sure, one strange thing is that some persons on GameFAQs were enervating because of the words that I used. Thinking or wondering about my lack of skills or even (*censured words*) because sometimes I wrote correct texts ...O_O

I'd love to see those get cracked down on. Those are called secret boards. For each system there are boards for a few obscure games. How you can tell if it is a secret board is that when you post a topic it doesn't come up with a warning that says you need to stay on topic to the game.

I go on gamefaqs because a year or so ago I went to the diamond and pearl boards to trade pokemon. Now no one does anymore but we still have a guild there where we just talk about random stuff.

Past.
There was the old SErvice GAmes with nice Karaoke machines and BINGO . Some years ago (more than a decade ago) I played at a SEGA BINGO machine ...

Now.

I got one prize on the Brazilian Lottery, it is a third tier prize on the second draw of Dupla Sena (this is a double draw, the first SENA only pay if someone won with all numbers. The second draw has first prize, second prize and third prize).

700 14/10/2008 Quadra - 1 acerto(s)
85,68 DS-0001765B7
Sometimes, I play the lottery at some lottery sites if someone want to check the last draw I was the only that has a prize on 14-10-2008 at this Lottery site:
Recent prizes (http://www.sorteonline.com.br/premiacoes/recentes.asp)
It is possible to click on the game (Jogo) to find the numbers and the result of the draw.

Since 14 is one of my favourite numbers. It was very nice to have a prize on that day!

Weird that some sites could believe that gambling is off-topic. Even stranger when there are some prizes and possible scans of tickets. I know that scanning of copyright material is not valid on most countries. But in most cases neither is gambling ...

I wouldn't worry too much about the Gamefaqs message board, they are not really worth it usually. Most members are annoying. The site is only good for faqs/cheats.

Side Note: I'm banned from their message boards :/
