I spotted one of these in a local pawn shop this afternoon, and was intrigued by the weirdness of it. Anyone have any experience with the Game Action Replay? There exists only minimal info on the ol' internet (1 (http://porroe.blogspot.com/2007/12/game-accessories-part-1-game-action.html),2 (http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/odd/scans/gar.html)) that I have come across, and it sounds like an interesting, if glitchy, piece of hardware kitsch. There was no price on it, and I didn't think to ask, but I understand they go for >$30 online, with the rarity guide listing it as an R7 at $35 loose.

Would you consider one of these worth owning? Is it common to find them in a non-functioning state?

it is worth it, you can probably get $75 out of it off ebay or trade for some good stuff, the bad thing is the batteries are prone to die on it

once the batteries die its dead, all the data is saved on sram

however if you have access to a copynes you can re-flash it.

I still have the one I bought back in the day (and of course kept all of the original packaging, which I never see anymore). Still works fine though I wonder for how long. Great for picking up a game where you left off - without passwords or a save feature. Not sure about replacing the batteries once it dies but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
