View Full Version : Japanese GB games working on US GBC?

Is it possible to get a Japanese Game Boy game to work on an American Game Boy Color? If so, how? I didn't look very much, but I didn't see anything in the floated thread with the converters.

Unless I'm wrong, it should just work. But I don't know that for sure. I know GB games are supposed to be region independent.

gameboys comes without any region protections, whatsoever.
they will play perfectly, don't worry.

The portable game systems that know are region-free include the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Advance, DS, Neo-Geo Pocket Color and PSP.

Yup. I do it all the time.

Now if only other platforms would start the region-free trend, that'd be awesome. ^_^

iirc PSP isnt completly region free, some games are region locked.

iirc PSP isnt completly region free, some games are region locked.

All the games are region free, as far as I know. It's the movies/music UMDs that are region locked, but you can get around it with custom firmware, and nobody really cares about those discs anyway.

Turbo did that with their CD games :)

I don't see what the big deal is with the region lock anyway, but I'm not getting on a soapbox.
