View Full Version : Nintendo In-Store Retail Display Cabinet!

I just put a World of Nintendo Retailer Cabinet on hold at a local flea market.
It's 62" wide, 4ft. tall, and 18" deep.
Obviously an old retail cabinet from one of the stores that went out of business up here. Never really seen one like it. It has the ultra-coveted "World of Nintendo" placard on he top, and another small Nintendo logo on the bottom.
It's lit and mirrored on the inside, and the sign also lights up on the outside. It's a locking case, and there is little to no damage on it.
It's gorgeous.
Still have to work out all the details, but the guy who runs the Flea Market said he wouldn't sell it to anyone else.

Brings tears to the eyes!

He wants $1000, and I haven't really haggled yet. Considering most Nintendo signs go for well over $200, this commands a larger price, IMO.
I might try to bargain a bit lower, but when we were looking at curios and normal lighted retail display cabinets, they START at around $1000.
So, being a Nintendo version, I thought that the price he said was decent, especially considering that it's lighted. However, I wanted to check with a community that is also in to this stuff and see if I should go a lot lower or stay with the $1000.

That sounds awesome, but $1000 bucks sound high to me. I think closer to $500 would be fair. Think of all the great games, even arcade games, you could buy with that. If you want it that bad I would try to haggle him down to maybe $700 area. It can't hurt to try. The worst he could say is no.

Yeah, $1000 seems like a whole lot. It would probably be cheaper to make your own that looks just like it. ;) :P

What do you all think now?

I also added my World of Nintendo lighted sign on top.

I think you should tell us how much you paid and I have to agree with some of the above, $1000 is an awful lot for a case.

I hope you didn't spend 1000 on that. But it is pretty sweet.

Well, I have a generic case in my basement that I paid 400+ for, just to store some He-Man stuff in. (Just noticed that my pic is old and does not have the display case in it) Display cases, Nintendo or not, go for hundreds of dollars. I think if he paid the 1000, that is not out of the question. I couldnt pay it, but if it was a Master of the Universe case, I would have taken out a loan for 1500 + and bought it.

Whoa, I was expecting you to say it was $200 or something like that. Granted I have absolutely no knowledge of this type of thing (nor interest), but $1000 seems crazy high. I hope you haggled.

(actually all that matters is that you yourself enjoy it, but it would make me feel better!)

looks cool, but doesn't seem to be worth 1000 :| replacing the interior lights would be a cool way to go, take off that super power one and string some smaller ones in different places so there's an even glow all around. Did it come with shelving?

I'd give my left nut for that. But not $1000.

Haggled down to $800. Yes, it did come with shelves. Glass shelves that hang off metal that goes in the peg boards. Also, there is other metal pegs that used to hold single games.
Totally worth it IMO. Front loading store display cases that AREN'T branded start at about $1000. Maybe you guys just don't know fixture pricing?

Retrogaming Roundtable > Marketplace > What's It Worth?

Whatever someone will pay for it, in the case of the... well, case... the guy selling it made out like a bandit $_$. $200 would be my limit, and I just dropped $500 on a cocktail table.

Your left nut is worth less than $1,000.00? How much is it worth?

It depends on the item.... I like the right one better.

Then why'd you ask what we all felt? Just to justify the purchase to yourself?

edit: glass shelves is an awesome + though

I do that sometimes, I'll ask about something I've already purchased just to see whether I got a decent deal.

That is a very nice case, but i'm more impressed by your he-man collection, I'm a huge 80s collector myself (though my he-man collection consists almost exclusively of vintage loose stuff)

I tip my hat to you.
