I think you guys can help me on this. When I was on 7th grade, I friend of mine had this very weird, but very fun NES game.

It was on a pirate cartridge, identified as "Fire Bird". The game itself was a platformer. The hero was guy with a big black beard, wearing pink clothes. He would shoot projectiles that looked a lot like forks. You also had the ability to create blocks to stand on; these were limited, but you could colect more from defeating enemies.

There were also some big blocks with what I recall to be a phoenix (hence the "Fire Bird" bogus name, I guess).

I always wanted to play it again, but never could, because I don't know the game's real name; when I look for Fire Bird, I always get a flight simulator. If any of you know what game it is, please let me know. It's been bugging me for years now!

Thanks in advance!

That sounds like Konami's Hi no Tori, "Firebird" in English. Based off the animated movie of the same name.

You're right, Ccovell, Hi No Tori it is!! There's even a YouTube video confirming it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMVz3EOheHU)!

Thanks a lot, really! Now I can finally play this crazy thing again!

Looks like a pretty fun game. Never released here? (US)

It's fun indeed! A lot of fun! I remember that, when I borrowed the game from my friend the first time, I played it for five, ten minutes and hated it. The next day, I came to him and said "hey, that game of yours sucks!". He told me: "It does not, believe me. Just keep playing".

I did so, and became addicted to the darn thing. I even tried to buy it from him, but he wouldn't let it go. And so I never found it again, 'cause of the name issue. Not until now! :)

That game looks like it would be fun (for me at least).

It seems like I have played the game before. I know I didn't play this version, because I don't remember the character, but the way the game plays reminds me of some NES game that I have played.
