Inspired by the Alf thread. Let's see how many we can think of!
-Alf (SMS)
-Home Improvement (SNES)
-Family Guy Video Game! (PS2)
-That Friends trivia game on PS2
There's one sitcom with a LOT of games that I left out - I didn't want to make this too hard. How many games from that sitcom can you list?

When I first saw Out of This World, I thought it was based on the sitcom. Thankfully, I was wrong.

If you exclude cartoons, there are virtually none.

Did "Maniac Mansion" become a tv show after the game was released, or was it the other way around?

The show came after the game.

Gilligan's Island on the NES
the series of Addams Family games...or were they all after the movies (Fester's Quest especially I'm unsure of the timing)? I can't remember
a couple more cartoon ones include the Jetsons and Flintstones games.

Don't you mean soap opera? No, wait, that was Another World. Which is the same game again, oddly enough.

Fester's Quest came out far in advance of the movies, but the other games definitely came later.
The Three Stooges counts as a sitcom, doesn't it? Cinemaware's game was popular enough to warrant considerable porting, apparently.

Out of this World was a late 80s sitcom and yes it has a crazy 80s sitcom premise. From what I can remember, it involved a girl that could freeze time with her fingers and Burt Reynolds talking out of a glowing box. According to IMDB, it somehow lasted 4 seasons.

The A-Team! Weird, I just remade CJ into Mr. T last night. I pity the fool who don't understand the situational comedy inherit in Mr. T's pteromerhanophobia.

Hilarious! I remember that show!
If we count prime time cartoon shows, there was Family Dog for the SNES.

It would absolutely require a Carlton-inspired rhythm-based dancing mini-game. HYPHEN.

Except The A-Team isn't a situation comedy. :P
There's tons and tons of Disney sitcom-related "games" on the GBA and DS. I avoid them, though.

Pretty much every Disney Channel show has a video game.
That's So Raven
Hannah Montana
Suite Life of Zack and Cody
Cheetah Girls
etc, etc
Was there ever a MacGyver video game? It could be a like a point and click action/adventure. You were locked in an office, what 3 things in the room can you combo together to escape?

Hah, a MacGyver game would've been the shit.

Oddly, the NES. There was a thread about the game a while ago.
I just realized we're missing one game: M.A.S.H.!

Dunno how I'd receive 'em today, but I thoroughly enjoyed watchign OOTW as a kid in the early '90s. My cousin loved that show, and me and my brother loved watching it with her. The freeze time thing was so cool. I remember emulating "Evie's finger freeze motion" hoping for it to work, ah the innocence of being seven or so :p

I like this idea, not only for the aforementioned Carlton dancing game, but for the Jazzy toss level.
Fester's Quest came out far in advance of the movies, but the other games definitely came later.

Thanks for the clarification of the Addams Family timing.
I never counted the Three Stooges as a sitcom, because I believe their shorts were mainly made for movie houses (same for old Looney Tunes / Mickey Mouse cartoons...) Although, I must say it was a tremendously fun, and beautiful game...especially on the C64.

Yeah, the 80's spilling over into the early 90's was a crazy time.
I wasn't even aware "ALF" lasted to 1990 until I looked it up on IMDB.

DigitalSpace didn't -- it's in his original post :p
Again, if you don't count cartoons, there's hardly any sitcom to video game games. If you count Looney Tunes then oh boy, are there a lot. Think of all the cartoons that became 8-16 bit titles, from Darkwing Duck to Pirates of Dark Water.

Technically The Three Stooges shorts aren't a sit-com, but they're run regularly enough on daytime television to loosely consider the Cinemaware classic worthy of inclusion in this list IMO.
Mainly because the game is pretty awesome.

Not sure about sitcoms, but a heck of a lot of UK soap opera/dramas had some sort of game released about them in the mid 80's for the Spectrum/C64. Two off the top of my head were Neighbours (though it was an Aussie soap, hugely popular here), and Grange Hill.
What about sitcoms that SHOULD have games? I want me some Fresh Prince for Genesis.
I always thought Red Dwarf could've been a heck of a game, but there hasn't been one to my knowledge.

The Nickelodeon shows "Drake and Josh" and "Zoey 101" both have DS games based on them.
There were also games based on the old Nick 'Toons "Rocko's Modern Life", "Ahh! Real Monsters", and "Rugrats" in the 90s.
And there was a pretty good game based on Tiny Toon Adventures.

Based on the artwork I'd say Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt was based on the cartoon.

Holy hell. I would have played the crap out of that game.
While this may stray from sitcoms, but there's a game based on Homey D. Clown (http://www.mobygames.com/game/homey-d-clown). I remember reading about it and thought it was canceled, but turns out it actually it was actually made.

If it has a mini-game where you can send Alice "to the moon", that would be awesome.

Kickass thread, if not for the ideas and humor. Nah theres no proto of Andy Griffith..dont want a calm the beef min topic here. There was going to be a Homey D Clown movie but oh well. I also didnt know ALF was such a bitch to film and how the cast is mad at each other and Fusco is a weirdo. Personally from In Living Color an Oswald Bates game would be hilarious. It was more frequent, and cheaper, for many of the sitcoms to license out a board game, than a video game.
Didn't Growing Pains Kirk Cameron make a video game where you save sinners from Hell?

Left Behind: Eternal Forces (http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/left-behind-eternal-forces) is only related to Kirk Cameron in the sense that Cameron starred in a movie based on the same source material as the game. But I doubt he had anything to do with the game, which certainly has even less to do with sitcoms.

No, but he did star in a game where you save cows from the Horde.
