So I've got a Cruis'n USA converted to Exotica. Problem is this, you get to the end of the race, and the machine reboots. Sometimes it'll load all the way, sometimes it won't. When it reboots all the way, it'll work fine for one race, and reboot again. In the CPU test (U27?) checks red. The IC is a Zeropower RAM, so I am thinking maybe this is bad? However, on a full power-off, power-on reboot, U27 checks out ok? (green). I am not sure what could be causing this problem. I did make sure that all the chips were seated all the way, re-booted the machine, played a game, and it worked flawlessly, so I don't know if that was IT, or there's something else I'm missing.....Anybody else have any ideas?

Voltages are ok, and it's an old USA cab without the overhead marquee, so it's basically just a cabinet. That was why I couldn't figure it either.

Have you checked your voltages on the board? Specifically on-chip?

Are these chips available? I mean, if they're cheap, just swap it out.

Voltages are good. I didn't have a spare chip on me to swap with (location is an hour drive from the shop), so next time I'll bring one with me, I figured it was worth a shot to see if anyone's ever had a problem like that.

The only other thing I can think of would possibly be a bad hard drive.

Worked on a Cal Speed that would randomly not allow the gas pedal to work. Before the race, right up until you got going you could rev the engine, see the RPM gauge working, then when they dropped the flag...nothing. Reboot fixed it. Not the same issue as yours, obviously, but sometimes these things just are weird.

That was what I thought too, but one small problem...no HDD.

Duh, that's right! Heh...it's been a while since I worked on one.

That's a weird one, all right. Reset on race finish.

I forget, on bigger models, is there a light system for winners and whatnot? Because even without the lights, the system is still in place, IIRC.
