View Full Version : Final Fantasy Controller stickers?

In a recent ebay auction for a complete Final Fantasy I for the NES, I saw the following stickers for NES controllers. I have never seen these in a "complete" set before, and was wondering if they were included in the original packaging for the game, or if they turned up elsewhere and someone just threw them in with the auction. Any thoughts would be great.

As far as I know, there were no stickers released with Final Fantasy.
Looking at the stickers, it also doesn't look like something that square would include, at least not at the time.

Nintendo published Final Fantasy in the US, and it does seem like something they would include. My copy certainly didn't come with them though.
It actually looks like something Nintendo Power would've included with a magazine, but I don't recall ever seeing them.

I seem to recall them as being associated with Nintendo Power...
I bought the game brand new back in the day and I've never seen these before.

I bought the game brand new, and was a steady Nintendo Power subscriber, and I've never seen those stickers before.

I can vouch on the Nintendo Power as well. I have all the issues from that time, and while I wasn't the original owner, I do know they're complete with everything. Nintendo Power already gave the game a bunch of coverage in the magazine AND gave the game its own entire guide book, so it would've been a bit much to give out stickers on top of that.

I recall winning these from the first Nintendo Power Final Fantasy Trivia questions. I believe the controller stickers were the runner up prize. Oddly, they didn't stick to the controllers very well. I also won runner up prize in the second one which consisted of a neat tshirt and a hot-pink fanny pack with Final Fantasy on it filled chocolate coins

Do you or anyone else know what issue of Nintendo Power the Trivia contest was in? It might help me track down a set of the decals! I've tried a billion combinations of words for google searching, but sadly to no avail.

NP's FF coverage started in Volume 11, or the March/April '90 issue. May/June was the first with the three part contest, though.
