I believe Mezrabad may be into this one a bit, but he doesn't pop around too much these days.

I've got a complete set of the games as well as both versions of the console. No Imagination Machine though.
Nice console. Not a terribly interesting library, but fun to have.

I've got a boxed console (box in bad shape) and 7-8 games. Neat system with not too great controllers. Never could get into the games too much. Hard as heck to find anything for it other than Ebay, I would love to collect the whole set sometime.
I liked the Pinball game (can't remember what it's called though)

I've got one and 3 games for it. I don't think I've even powered it up in the last two years.

Murdoc, they pop up fairly often so keep looking.
I played mine recently but just unhooked it for the Colecovision, I'll have to hook it up again and write some reviews for a few games soon. Anyone else want to make a Apf section in the reviews for this site?

Ditto.
I do drag it out every once in awhile but more for research and maintenance/cleaning than for actual playing.

I may. Let me dig in my dupe closet and see what turns up. May take me a while though!

when you say you have both, do you mean M1000 & MP1000, or the MP1000 with and without the power LED? I've got two MP1000s, one with and one without the power LED and seven carts.

I've got a loose MP1000 without the LED and a boxed M1000, also with no LED. The box is a bit interesting as it is labelled an MP1000, but the picture of the console is an M1000.
Any idea which of the 3 is hardest to find? I was thinking the M1000 only came with the Imagination Machine, but that's apparently not the case.

Here's the whole 9 yards...

Got the console and Imagination Machine, along with all the cables, J-plug, and basic cart in a bag for 10 bucks at Goodwill. Picked up the games over the years for next to nothing via trading and Ebay, as they are not in much demand. The final game, Space Destroyers, is notable for the fact that it's half again as large as the other carts, and actually a decent Space Invaders clone. The rest of the library isn't much fun...but it's a nice piece of gaming history.

If you are interested in the APF you should check out the 'apf_consoles_and_computers' over at Yahoo, lots of interesting information has shown up there in the last few months,

At the Classic Gaming Expo 2007, an APF was put up for auction, complete with every game but one. I figured it would bring $200 or more, but many of the attendees laughed off the system as though they were auctioning off Barney the Dinosaur for the Genesis, and it got zero bids and very little interest. I was surprised. The APF isn't exactly the Honus Wagner tobacco card of classic gaming, but it is rare and highly collectable.

I have two games, no system. It is one of a few US systems I dont have...yet. I had a system but sold it to help complete my Nes set(sometimes a casuality of being a completist). I scored it in a pile of Oregon Tourist badges at a funky old hardware/thrift shop. I paid $3 for it, and it worked. I want to get another.

I've got one and a handful of games. I got it at the old Simoneu Plaza/Globe Plaza indoor flea market (RIP) in Nashua, NH some time in the laste 90s or early 00s (probably 98 or 99). It sat in a huge bin of VCS/5200 carts for at least a couple years...probably much longer. Eventually I think I bought it for somewhere between $2 and $10. I know it wasn't much. I think it was because in the years it sat there, I was the only one who ever decided to look up what the hell it was and went back and bought it. I started seriously collecting in 97, so I was rather green back then in my knowledge of obscure game systems. After finding out how rare it was, I knew I would never see one in the wild again. I still haven't.

APF fans may be interested in knowing that my book has descriptions/reviews of every game in the system's library, plus a console bio.
Here's a sample entry.
Space Destroyers
Publisher: APF
Developer: APF
Genre: Slide-and-Shoot
1 or 2 Players (alternating)
Year of Release: 1979
The best and most interesting cartridge in the APF library, Space Destroyers is a very nicely programmed clone of the original arcade version of Space Invaders. Players guide their laser cannon along the bottom of the screen, firing upward at rows of descending aliens. The game has the same 55-alien, four-shield layout as the coin-op classic it mimics, but it lacks the tricked-up options found in the Atari 2600 version of Space Invaders. Space Destroyers was the only game for the APF that was released in 1979, and the cartridge itself is longer and more colorful than the other titles, which are generic in design. It’s a shame the system didn’t hang around a little longer to support more games of this type.

I did some reading in the Yahoo group and found references to the M1000 version being harder to get than the MP1000. Is this really the case? Does anybody else here have an M1000? How about a box for the MP1000, for comparison to mine?

I owned one in the early days of my collecting, back when I'd buy anything that looked cool or had woodgrain somewhere..
MP1000 with like 6 games. Found it in one of those community flea markets in Palatka, FL. $5. I think at the time they were in decent demand on ebay and I got about $150 for it there.
(edit: Oh, the games were boxed and pretty damn minty, but the system itself was loose.)
