View Full Version : Phantasy Star SMS variant cover?!?!?

Ok, just got a second copy of Phantasy Star for the SMS and the covers are different! The one has extra info on the spine, and the other has some Memory info on the front cover. Both have different publisher's information as well, one crediting Tonkin, and the other Sega of America! Anyone else ever seen this? Here's the pics:

The Tonkin version is from Canada. There were however two USA variants as well..one that gave info on the battery backup, and one that did not.

So the real question..which one should I keep? I'm sending my friend one of them. They're in identical condition, cept for the variant cover. Anyone got any reason I should have a preference?

I would personally keep the US version (non Tonkin) because I believe this was the first to be released...then the Canadian version was released. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is how it worked. Also, if you want a complete US set (114 games) the US version will be good for this.
