Preferably 4 players...
What are some good multiplayer N64 games... besides the obvious?
I think South Park Chef's Love Shack was one, decent party game, supports 4 players. Any other suggestions?

Battle Tanx: Global Assault!

Next to Goldeneye and Smash Bros. it was the most played and honestly the favored in our group of friends.

The protecting of bases with sentry guns, using guided missles and other awesome weapons in the game was a blast! You gotta get it, I meant it. :D

I wouldn't say it was necessarily "unknown", but it is definetely not mentioned enough.

Excitebike 64 supports four players. It's a good, little competitive episode that four people can play together.

Beetle Adventure Racing has an awesome 4-player battle mode and the racing is actually fun!

Back then, we'd play Star Wars Pod Racer for hours on end. Not necessarily unknown, but certainly a level down from GoldenEye and Smash Bros.

The king of the mountain mode in Monster Truck Madness 64 is surprisingly fun.

Depends how much you mean by "unknown", but my vote goes to Snowboard Kids...

Goemon's Great Adventure has a stealth 4-player mode and a standard 2-player mode.

Starfox is pretty good but you really need 3 or 4 people playing to make it interesting. It also helps if you've unlocked the Landmasters and the characters on-foot for a bit of variety.

1080 is a great two player game. Pure downhill snowboard racing and it still looks really good in splitscreen.

Me and my friends always had a good time with Bio Freaks, an obscure 3-D fighting game where you could rip off limbs and kill your opponent in the middle of a match.

I'm surprised Winback hasn't been mentioned, maybe it's considered mainstream after the PS2 port. Great 3rd person shooter, that is if you can get your friends to try a new perspective on the Fun Machine.

Destruction Derby 64 has four player racing and derby modes which can be quite fun. Wish this one had a bit more strategy but its hard not to smile when you "accidentally" trackshot a friend into a flaming grey poly.

Speaking of racing games, Cruis'n World was the first in the series to offer 4 player split screen. I almost never see this one mentioned (perhaps too many people were burned by the shoddy original effort) but personally think this title was refined for the console experience and is well worth a look into.

Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense offered the only 4 player "traditional" car combat on the 64 (in this scenario, the car combat genre has been distilled to Twisted Metal-esque core components, i.e. guns on cars, not shells from karts or nukes from tanks or whatever Carmageddon 64 was attempting).

Duke Nukem 64 is by far the most under-rated game of all time. The single player game is blown away by Golden Eye and some of the others, but the multiplayer is the best console multiplayer ever. It beats out SNES and Saturn Bomberman in my book, and that is tough to do. If you are a fan of great gameplay and fast-paced action over graphics and eye candy, then this is the game for you. Play Duke for about 2 hours and the pop in Bond. You will feel like 007 is stuck in molasses.

Conker's Bad Fur Day had some super fun 4-player multiplayer.

Good call. I do remember DK64 being a pretty decent multiplayer game.

Great calls with the others.... good list... I will look into a few of those... forgot about Worms.
