I have an original model Sega CD unit in which the CD tray does not open and close. I have taken the unit apart, but am not certain as to how to readjust the track that the tray slides in and out on. I was hoping that someone here would have either knowledge on this, or could point me to the correct resource(s) to help me to resolve this problem. Thanks.

I assume you've used the buttons on the controller to try to open it, right?

Yes, I am aware of how these units should function, as I have another Sega CD unit that does not exhibit the problem. It is hardware related, as I can hear the CD tray attempting to eject whenever I prompt the unit to do so, but to no avail. Does anyone have any helpful information regarding the operation of the Sega CD tray, or know of how to go about adjusting the tray on the internal track to allow for successful opening and closing operations?

All I can offer is that here at OSG we hate working on those. More often than not the mechs are just worn out, and belt replacing/gear resetting does not work.

But it might.

The tray mechs are a bit complex, and very unlike modern eject mechanisms.
