I just bought a used NES on Mercado Livre (brazilian auction site a la eBay). It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm already worried about dirty connectors, blinking screens, and stuff like that - although the seller guaranteed it's working just fine.
Today, I found a used "NES Cleaning Kit" on the same site, going for around 30 reais (something around 20 dollars). Since buying a new connector would be much more difficult because of the shipping costs, I think it might be just what I need.
What I wanna know is: is it worth it? Is it really the best way to clean the pins, or should I save the money and try to clean them myself (and risk damaging the unit - keep in mind that used NES are pretty expensive here)?
I also read that the cleaning pads can get dirty with use, which is another concern, since the kit is used. Is that really the case?
Well, that's it. I hope you guys can help. Thanks!
