View Full Version : Arena Shooters with sim bots... Perfect Dark only one?
Is Perfect dark the only one form the PSX/N64 era and earlier?
is there anything from an earlier age that is anywhere close in 2D?
how would you rate the AI of the bots in perfect dark?
many thanks, TMC.

I'm sure Turok: Rage Wars on the N64 had bots too.

The AI of the bots in Perfect Dark range from "Cannon fodder" to "Holy crap, this guy is a tactical genius and like Ahnald with a firearm!!!"

I can't recommend a game from that era but Nightfire 007 for current consoles has AI bots that have some pretty mean AI.

The N64 version of Duke Nukem had the option to use bots in the multiplayer. They're pretty stupid though, you can spam the tripwire against them.

I don't know if you consider the DC old enough, but there are some great ones for that.
OutTrigger! By far my fav FPS ever.
Q3A and UT are also on the DC

As I remember, the UT bots were actually pretty good. On the PC version, at least.
There was also some sort of AI script for Quake developed...I think it was called Refer pods or something like that? Some guy who was a network engineer programmed them...they would learn levels without running into walls, would sneak up on you...advanced stuff for the time.
