Part Number List For Common Repair & Mod Parts

I thought this might help all those getting started with doing repairs or mods but don't know where to get parts other than Radio Shack. Finding sources for electronics parts is what I do for a living so I thought I'd do something to help out the DP community.

I usually recommend digikey or mouser but the number of choices might be intimidating to some.

So, I put together a list of common part numbers to make them easier to find. Right now I'm just using digikey for no other reason than I've used them quite a bit in the past and I have the 3 inch thick catalog in front of me now.

So all parts can be ordered from www.digikey.com

I made this list with the following things in mind:
1) Common/standard parts with a radio shack equivalent
2) low quantity minimum purchace requirement
3) Low Cost (17 cents for an LED comapred to $1.50 at Radio Shack!)

Shipping is reasonable but in order to make it worthwhile you might want to buy all you'll ever need at once. If your going to be working with electronics then you'll want this stuff on hand.

This is by no means a complete list. There are thousands of parts out there, these are just some of the most common. If you think I left something out please let me know and I'll add them(I'm sure I forgot quite a few things)

Thats awesome jb. I would have definately found it useful when I started doing mods (hell its even useful for me still). Back then I had no idea about electronic prices since Ive never done any electronic work in my life and its good to know what to expect as far as costs when youre going to attempt something new like this.

Hey thanks, I'm hoping someone will get use out of it.

Does anyone know why the spacing is all messed up on the pricing???
I tried using both spaces and tabs and neither worked.

I'll fix that when I get time, and also add replacement batteries for carts. Let me know if there's any specific batteries that are needed.

I added some batteries and caps. Do any of you guys that do repairs know of any common repair parts that should go on here? Like the Game Gear sound problem caps?

I havn't been able to find the .47µ-50V caps where I can buy like 50 or so. I've only found them in Radioshack packed in with other caps I don't need.

I'm pretty sure the CR-2032 is ALSO the battery for the Dreamcast VMUs.

And I think the CR-2025 is also used by the Saturn.

I'm unsure of the lead spacing for the .47µ-50V cap but digikey part number P823-ND might work. The price in 10 for 91cents.

A note on caps...the voltage doesn't have to exaclty match the part your replacing as long as it's the same or greater.

I buy all the parts I can from Mouser. They are cheap and ship fast... and no minimum order that I've ever run into.

With links to plenty of data sheets you can make sure the caps you are buying are the right physical size to fit which is VERY important when recapping monitors or trying to fix a Turbo Express.
