For me it's the PS1, it seems like I've acquired a ton of PS1 controllers lately through cheap bundles I've bought locally. If you add in the compatible PS2 controllers the number's even more ridiculous. Sadly, I still remember wishing I had the money for another PS1 controller way back when.

N64, I've always had four around during the goldeneye era and tend to pick one up every now and again when I see a cheap good condition one, don't know the total but I remember coming accross quite a few while packing.

Probably PlayStation for me too. I've had more PlayStation systems pass through my hands than any other system, and since I tend to sell them with only one controller, I occasionally end up with one here and there that I can keep. I'm still lacking in Dual Shocks, though. I only have one that's truly good, and that's the one that came with my system when I bought it new. I got another one that's so-so, and a third that's half broken. No biggie, though, since I prefer playing with the original controller with its superior, simplistic design. I think its D-pad feels better, and it's lighter and more comfortable to grip. I don't even know how many original controllers I have kicking around. One or two are often hanging around the PCs for emulation.

NES, if we are counting pretendo controllers in there. Otherwise PS2 is tied with NES, unless DDR related controllers don't count. I'm confused :P

I probably have at least two dozen Atari 2600 controllers. Wins by a large margin in my collection.

I probably have around 40-50 SNES controllers in a big plastic carton in my storage area I've accumulated over the years. Someday I'll test and clean them up so I can package them up with loose systems/games and sell them.

I tend to hold on to VCS controllers since they're harder to come by around here.

NES controllers for me, If I see them at a cheap price like a buck or two I usually pick them up.

I'm not sure about a specific system, but most of my controllers certainly are 9-pin Atari compatible (mostly crappy joysticks).

namzep
07-03-2008, 09:25 AM
Probably the Wii with 8, total (three nunchucks, three remotes, one classic, and one Nyko sureshot). I just dumped all of my extra controllers into a trade tub so they're no longer part of the collection for the count. Otherwise, it would probably be the original Playstation.

It's either the 2600 or the Dreamcast. Probably the 2600, but Dreamcast has the higher ratio of first-party controllers.

NES, PlayStation, and N64 are probably all equal for me, With the edge going to the NES.

I had four for my 64. I have two for my DC plus a gun, keyboard and arcade stick. Then there's my 360 which has rockband, several guitar heros and two wireless controllers.

I'm not sure I have a ton for any system but the leader might be the N64. I think I probably have about a half-dozen or so for that one.

I used to pick up any Atari compatible controller in the wild, but after so many built up I've had to stuff them in Rubbermaid totes to get them out of the way. And yet I still buy the occasional one in a thrift when I come across one I don't have. Or even more rare, a boxed controller.

Master System I think, I got 3 of them and it looks like they all came with controllers ;)

I usually sell controllers that I dont need though.

Probably 150-200 2600 compatible controllers. I'd guess about 2-3 dozen sets of paddles and the joystick storage dwarfs that.

I have three controllers for my PS2. The original one, an unlicensed one which is working great and this gory one:

http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w127/niolani/cesgame01.jpg

This is MY controller and no one but me can use it. I love playing Resident Evil 4 with this monstrous thing.

Well, I don't know if a DS stylus can count as a controller but I have a shitload of them. Almost everytime I would buy something for my DS, it would come with a stylus.

I know that a lot of people would often lose their stylus but, do they have to sell one with almost anything? I'm the kind of person that would double-check her things to be sure I didn't forget something.

Maybe I should make a necklace out of my spare styluses.

Id say for me its SNES. I have a good handfull of those and just got rid of two when I sold my buddie my spare SNES.

Just received N64 controller #17 and 18.
I buy bundles because it's cheaper than just buying the games.
Also have 10 N64's I can't get rid of :(

I'm in the same boat with N64s. Just got another yesterday w/ 2 controllers because it had the memory expansion.

Not counting N64 controllers I need to rid myself of, it is probably NES. I've kept the 3rd party NES controllers I've come across, plus I have a controller or two tucked into a couple system boxes, there's the Wing Commander stick, Advantage, Zapper, Power Glove, PowerPad, a couple dogbones, Max, a wireless set, etc. I do need to get the Arkanoid controller and a Laser Scope, oh, and a U-Force.

I have over 10 controllers for the Saturn in the hopes someday I will be able to play 10 player Bomberman. Unfortunately, I do not know 10 people locally that would still play the Saturn. Oh well.

2600.

as shitty as most of em are, i figure the more of them you have the better chance you have of having one set that works, specially for 4-player warlords.

Probably 2600 as I have a bunch of the regular joys/paddles and some of the different controllers (Sesame Street controller, anyone?). I also have quite a few for my NES but not quite as many.

I probably have more unique and total controllers for the SNES than any other. I have just about every controller variation made for the system, at least of those that I know exist.

PS1 at the moment.
I have a couple of dualshock controllers, 3 or 4 of the original sony pads, and an asciipad ft2, although I think that last one is a PS2 controller if you want to get technical.

NES. I'll pick up a controller when I see it if I don't have one in my collection and I have a tendency to keep those that I've broken in frustration (I may possibly build a mural someday and tag with what game did them in). Seems like every time I buy a game they throw in a square one like they're doing me a favor...time to start producing NES belt buckles, I suppose.

grolt
11-25-2008, 12:17 AM
The Sega Master System, not only because that's the system I collect for most, but because there were so many variations to the standard pad. There were three in total, compared to the NES's one. They were:

Joystick adaptable control pad with wire from the side
Joystick adaptable control pad with wire from the top
Control pad with wire from the top

So I have a ton of those three variants. I also have a number of Saturn controllers too. I'd say at this moment I have 20 SMS controllers and 15 Saturn controllers.

Mine WAS the Dreamcast, but now it's the N64 that's winning (including 3rd party stuff). I'm always actively hunting out decent PSX controllers in the wild, ESPECIALLY the old digital ones. I only use genuine Sony controllers and memory cards on all of my Sony consoles. They seem....happier that way.

Definately Genesis without a doubt. I just keep getting controllers. I swear I am shitting them out in my sleep or something.

Frica89
11-26-2008, 01:38 AM
Definitely the N64. I have two little brothers and the controllers just won't stop breaking. I've thrown a bunch out, have one where the R-button is smashed and can't be used, a third-party one that doesn't work for no reason, and others. The contol sticks are super-shitty....Mario Party and Paper Mario both had parts that required you to spin the stick as fast as you can (AKA break it), so at least one controller has been lost for each game. Even if you avoid those games, the sticks still wear down and become loose over time.

I'd say Sega Genesis.. You'd be amazed at how many slight variations there are of the official Sega 3 button pad there are. I've sold many a Genesis over years and always kept controllers with itty bitty differences, as well as wacky 3rd party stuff (and theres a ton for the genny..). My favorite is an official Sega 3 button that has a cord which is super "flexible" (for lack of better word), it DOES NOT tangle or have (or can get) permanent bends/crimps in the cord. I've never seen another like it, the rubber sheathing is obviously a different material than the normal. Too bad it's the 3 button pad and not the 6 though. :(

12-10-2008, 12:58 PM
N64. At one point I had probably about 30 N64 controllers but I've been slowly selling them, trading them, etc. Now I just have a few more third party ones to get rid of and I'll be happy to keep the rest.

Probably Mega Drive. 1 six-button, 2 three-buttons and an arcade stick.

Xbox 360 if speciality controllers (e.g. guitars and drum kits) count.

mr.soul

N64. Seven controllers. I got the original 3 which were the first 3 i could get (clear grey, 2 atomic purple, ugh) so I just kept buying them to get the cool colors (green, yellow, red) and I got a grey one with the console. I think I'm just going to get all the colors... I mean, for $5 they're not a bad deal.

EDIT: now that I think about it, I have 7 for the 2600 too... 4 Joysticks and 3 pairs of paddles. I have two Ataris though.

I don't carry many controllers for my game systems, most of the time I just get enough to fill the ports...

But it would most likely be Genesis and Dreamcast

Dreamcast 6

Genesis 6ish

NES... I have a dedicated storage tote for crying out loud! LOL

Here too. I can't tell you how many NES controllers I have. It's stupid.

I actually have 3 dedicated totes for controllers and cords that are extras. I think 2nd would go to the genny.

Think I could find a snes AC or an XBOX controller end anywhere though? noooooo...

Playstation.

Now if the question was working controllers... :p

When I was younger, I would get so frustrated with certain video games, especially fighting games.
