View Full Version : Metal Jack for SNES - unreleased in the USA?

I was looking for some information on a Japanese game called Kikou Keikatsu Metal Jack (SNES) when eBay popped up on my searches... they have a product listing for a US release of the game, but I've never heard of it, found any other information, or even a freakin' ROM file.

But, eBay even has a box scan and everything. (See it here (http://catalog.ebay.com/Metal-Jack-Armored-Police_730865300013_W0QQQ5ftrksidZp4295QQ_fclsZ1QQ _pidZ4703QQ_tabZ1).) It's apparently based on the original Japanese box art, which you can see here (http://cgi.ebay.com/METAL-JACK-SUPER-FAMICOM-IMPORT-SNES-WITH-BOX-RARE_W0QQitemZ330246071535QQcmdZViewItem).

Does anyone know where this info came from? Was this game announced and then canceled? I know eBay's database is full of mistakes, but the fact that they have box art available is confusing me... does anyone know where it might've come from? Or if I could get a better shot of the box?

seems like thats the only pick of it :| It was mentioned in a DP thread a long long time ago about rare snes games (the picture of the box was found on half.com)

roms in jappo though ;p but u can play it since a lot of its in english :>

Um, no it's not. The title screen and the only bit of story is in Japanese. :p I already beat it years ago. Jeebus was that final stage a pain in the ass.

I'm trying to find out if it was really unreleased, or if there's a better scan of that artwork. For uh, personal reasons. Yeah.

The game is unreleased. This is the first time I have seen box art for a USA release. Interesting.

box art means there could be a proto out somewhere though ;p

Quite a few sites seem to have that cover art on file. There's even a UPC code attached to it...

Maybe Atlus submitted it to whatever product database these sites use, and then canceled the release at the last minute?

I've got a US proto of Metal Jack for SNES, but at least in the US, this game never came out.
