Attention Canadians! Futureshop is selling Planet Earth, on HD-DVD for $24.99. This is a GREAT deal in my opinion in you have an HD-DVD player. Online is sold out, but if you act fast enough MOST stores should have a few left (there was about 8 at mine when I went at 7:00 PM last night). If you have a 360 you should be able to grab the drive there also for $50, making a 360 HD-DVD drive + Planet Earth a grand total of $75, $15 less than the Blu-Ray series! There was no way I was going to buy it at $89.99 even though it is great, but $25 is a steal.

I recently rented this series from Blockbuster Online on Blu-Ray. I don't rent many educational programs but these caught my eye and they are incredible...

What is it about?

It's a miniseries focusing on exotic locales and endangered species filmed in high definition and at long distances, as not to disturb the wildlife. Much of the footage is of never seen rituals and habits of some of earth's rarest creatures. It's quite amazing... I snagged my copy on Discovery.com a few months ago when they were being blown out at $25 for the HD-DVD set.

Futureshop was out near me, and online, but the discovery channel store has it for $29.99 and I found a $5.00 rebate code online that made it the same price. HD-DVD only.

I would note that its the Discovery version and not the BBC version, but for $30.00 I'm cool with Sigourney Weaver :)
