Personally I prefer the ST, but I know many people are die-hard Amiga freaks.

The Amiga..
Better games and it actually had sound. The C64/128 had better sound then the Atari ST (the original models)
Are we talking Amiga 1200/4000 vs. Atari ST - whatever the best was?
The Amiga is so legendary look at all the games that were so impressive they got ported to everything.
1) Shadow of the Beast - this game is a graphics/sound demo. the game sucks but it got ported to so many systems because it caused a big stir in the platform industry in 1989 because the Amiga version was so impressive.
2) Prince of Persia - great game first on the Amiga
3) Lemmings - same
4) Magnetic Scolls - looks best on the Amiga
5) Bards Tale 1-3 : They are so enhanced on the amiga that to this day there is no better version.
6) Ever heard of a MOD sound file? It's from the Amiga
7) Amiga could emulate DOS 6.0 and Macintosh.
I can't think of one game for the Atari ST that was such a big hit that it had to be translated to other systems.. This is why the Amiga was king.

7) Amiga could emulate DOS 6.0 and Macintosh.
So could the ST.
1. It could use ANALOG Joysticks (today's joysticks) right out of the box as well as digital joysticks
2. Built-in video modulator so if you didn't have a monitor you could still use it.
3. Audio out jacks
4. MIDI
5. A plethora of fun games!
6. Much nicer looking GUI
7. YM-2149 Soundchip
8. Coverdiscs!
9. David Munsie programmed for it!
10. They're STILL building TOS-based computers TODAY!
11. Not one game? Ever heard of Zool?
12. Was Tempest released on the Amiga? I think not! ;)
13. What machine holds the current record for most moving sprites onscreen at one time? The ST.
14. What machine won last year's demo competition? I'll give you a hint: not an Amiga or Falcon!
15. The ST was much better at multitasking than the Amiga!
16. 640x400 resolution!
Look at these pictures for proof! ;)

Oh, and if we *were* talking about the best models, there would be ABSOLUTELY NO contest between the Falcon and the Amiga. The Falcon is better hardware and software wise than the Macintosh Quadra!
BTW I set up this entire thread on my ST over my Ethernet using my SDSL modem through my webserver. Can Amiga even *use* ethernet?

Give me the stats of Amiga v. Atari ST?
Speed? Colors? Resolution? The Amiga could mulitask with separate graphics and sound processors. Could ST multitask?
I admit I know very little about the ST. That's because nobody I knew owned one. They all owned Amigas or IBMs.

Prince of Persia came first on Apple II, not Amiga .
ST had Magic Sack (runs Mac software faster then the Mac) (made by Dave Small, I believe)
St still used today by the likes of Fatboy Slim and other excellent music makers (MIDI built in)
loads of UK games came first on ST and were later ported to Amiga (ST was released earlier in the UK than A500, so that progression was natural).
ST was made by Commodore (well, Tramiels, same thing)
But funnily enough, I was an Amiga man (because the Amiga was made by Atari (well, VCS man Jay Miner, same thing)

You say the Atari ST was the only computer with AV outs? My Amiga 1000 has RGB and AV outs.. Video/Left/right. now here is something your ST can't do. My A3000 can use a standard PC monitor and output to RGB!
Amiga had Midi to, just had to buy a 20 buck adapter
The Amiga has a library of over 1000 titles
a new Amiga Workbench is about to be released.. 4.0

Kinda makes your TOS look like crap don't it :P
You can still buy and build new Amiga's, just now it's all third party.
Resolutions on the Amiga far exceeded 1200x1075 even on the Amiga 1000..
I don't know where you got that the ST has better multitasking as the Amiga has the only OS in history that only loads the LIB's (dll on the Windoze) it needs not every damn library at once. this made the Amiga very RAM and resource efficient. unlike Mac, pc, and your TOS.

the Amiga 500 was not the first amiga the A1000 was.. please know your subject matter before debating.

Well, the latest TOS (released LAST WEEK) is very resource efficient. And if you want a new TOS machine, just call Milan computer!
Oh, and the ST has a library of over 1000 titles as well!
Are your new Amigas PnP compatible? Do they have USB or FireWire?

I thought Atari ST and Commodore Amiga had the same status as Nintendo NES (dead/obsolete)?

I can't officially compete in this thread, as I've never used an ST, but dosen't the Amiga have a built in Video capture card standard in all systems?

Amiga's come with expantion ports.. only the low end models are like the ST's - The Computer/ Keyboard in one things. The A3000 has several ways to expand as does the a 2000 and a 4000..
the A3000 has 4 Zorro III (PCI type) internal slots, 2 ISA slots you can put anything you want in there.. firewire.. USB.. ethernet card, whatever.
the A2000 an even older computer has 4 PC ISA slots (2 AT & 2 XT), Processor card slot, 5 x Zorro II slots, Video slot..
they all are SCSI based.. amazing!

Well that's one of the good things about the ST - it isn't bulky!
Did the Amiga come in laptop form?
Did the Amiga come in tablet form?
Was the Workbench based on UNIX?

I was expecting more of an Amiga vs ST war myself lol. At least it isn't in the battlezone yet lol!

Whatever happened to the Amiga One? It seemed as though many were getting excited about that a year or two ago.

They both suck. They are both also-rans. Windows is the computer to have if you want to be compatible with your neighbors and yourjob.
Atari TT030:
SCSI with DMA (amazing)
