NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Afficionados. YOU are invited.

Previously at NAVA...
- "The Angry Video Game Nerd" made a special appearance.
- PBC Productions attended in full force, with the entire cast of "Captain S", "Little Miss Gamer", and more.
- "The Nostalgia Critic" drove all the way from Illinois to issue a challenge.
- There was a slow motion brawl in the parking lot behind the store.
- A live game show pitted various gaming forces against one another.
- TWO game-related cakes were baked, displayed, and promptly eaten.
- Pictures and video tell it best:

There's really no way to follow up an event like last month's so soon, so we'll kick this event OLD SCHOOL. The July NAVA shall be the first in what we hope will be the LAST "John Hardie Memorial" NAVA. Some of you may remember John Hardie from past events. Atari guy. Friendly. Usually had a beer in hand. We haven't seen him since 2007. And if you DON'T know who he is, this is the time to find out. Scan some of the older photo galleries from the link above, because...

SHOW a picture of John Hardie at the register on this day and you automatically receive a 10% discount on all used/pre-owned games, systems, and accessories. BRING John Hardie to the register with you and get 15% instead! Naturally we're not expecting a "Weekend at Bernie's" scenario here but who knows? If that's what it takes, fifteen percent is fifteen percent.

At 6pm we'll do a Wii Mario Kart tourney. If you haven't played the game yet, what's wrong with you? And if you haven't MASTERED it yet... expect a world of pain come tourney time.

SO... we're ready to go. The summer days go by fast, so start getting your trade boxes in order, photographs printed, and game face in condition. It's time for another NAVA.

When: Saturday, July 26th, noon to midnight.
Where: Digital Press Videogames: http://tinyurl.com/yscakm
What happens: Gaming, trading, tournaments, big prizes! Attendance is FREE. Half price for kids!
What can I bring?: Snacks, soda and beer are always appreciated. Cakes have been very popular as well.

Mario Kart Wii? SWEET! This is gonna be a great NAVA and I can't wait to be hanging with my DP Buddies as always.

So Joe, how will the MK Wii tourney work? will we be going against others? And do you have to use the Wii Wheel? I'm only good with the GC controller.
Either way, I'll still play.

Also, bring ANY photo of John Hardie to get a discount?

EDIT: This may be the first NAVA I may be driving to! I have to do my road test (get my Permit basically) on Wednesday! Wish me luck ya'all!

Ah Mario Kart, the only good one to do is the GBA version, no cheapness from the AI and the weapons, and entirely based on skill. However it should be fun none the less, also one of the games I did not play on the "store's" Wii so I guess someone/group of people will have to do the unlocking.

Wait. I thought we were kicking it old school?

...Wait....... YOUR RIGHT! Mario Kart Wii on a such an Old School day? I say and OLDER Mario Kart, but either way it's still gonna be a blast meeting everyone again.

I'm also suprised cause I think this is the first NAVA where I haven't e-mailed someone internet famous and told them to come down, I SHALL REMAIN STORE AMBASSADOR THOUGH! :)

Wait. I thought we were kicking it old school?

WOW. That almost sounds doubtful...

The store has a number of games in session. Instead of "I thought we were..." why not ask "What's on the other..."

Ask - or just show up - and you shall see an old school event like no other.

It's because I was doubtful! Though now I am not, as it sounds like something good is in store. I'll hopefully be able to make it.

MARIO KART Wii TOURNEY??!!

Sweet baby Jesus on a commemorative baby Jesus tossing device, I'm SO down with that it's not even funny!!!!

(please don't dial back to the SNES, N64 or GC versions)

I knew I've been playing this game online daily since launch for a reason.

If it's a "John Hardie Memorial" NAVA, then shouldn't the tournament be some Pokemon game?

If he shows, make sure you snag his 2600 kidvid, it's his last one!

After a month of bringing absolutely ZERO swag, I've gone through my collection once or twice, mulled it all over, and I'll be bringing the following to NAVA this time around :

One near-mint US copy of Christmas Nights Into Dreams with only MINIMAL wear on the top edge of the "happy holidays from Sega" sticker and a few very very minor impressions on the front cardboard. The disc is pristine.

One Dark Purple GBA with a Halo Screen Light attached.
Included are a blue carry case and a 128M Visoly GBA Flash Card (with a fat-top that will only fit in a GBA) the games on the card are : Super Mario Advance 2 (Mario World) (JAP), Super Mario Advance 1 (Super Mario 2) (US), Double Dragon Advance (US), and Texas Hold Em' (US) ...I no longer have the hardware or the means to flash the card so it's going with this GBA as a package deal.

One ELink 1G GBA Flash Card (Complete) (see the details/specs in the link below) I absolutely couldn't get this to work on either of my comptuers ... but I think it's functional - just NOT with my computers. This one will be a bargain for sure, and if you're experienced with these probably worth it.

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13363

Elite Beat Agents DS (Complete)
Cooking Mama DS (Complete)

and probably some other neat stuff.

PM me if you want me to hold any of the stuff for you.

Hey guys, not sure if I will be making this month as I will be on vacation until Thursday, and then Driving on Friday. How will I not be able to make it to NAVA? you guessed it, a ride there and back. Dammit!

Hopefully, something else will come up and a friend will offer me a ride, if anything I'll keep you updated.

Like Frankie, I have begun to go throw my stuff. See the attached pictures and let me know if you are interested in some of following:

Boxed Dreamcast Collection - system, just about every accessory and controller, 14 games

Boxed Lynx Collection - 23 games, case, system, visor, battery pack

Genesis Collection - including boxed nomad, mix of loose and boxed games some hightlights include Raiden Trad, Mega Bomberman,JM Sports Talk FB proto.

Turbo Express Collection - Perfectly working express, no dead pixels or sound issues, 7 titles. Most are boxed and complete.

Other things that I may be adding pictures for later include a Boxed Jaguar system with extra boxed controller, composite cable, and 18 titles including Tempest, Raiden, Doom, and Wolfenstein. A boxed 2600 with assorted boxed games, and accessories. Numerous 2600's just about every version (heavy, light, Vadar, Jr, etc.). Various boxed NES games. Maybe even my supergun.

The photos are more descriptive then I can be, if you have questions shoot me a PM and I can send the higher res pictures. Since I have so much stuff I want to thin out, chances are I am only going to bring items people have expressed an interest in and I am looking for cash, no trades at this time. Preference will also be given to those who want to buy entire lots. Prices will be added once I sort through everything.

Frankie_Says_Relax

I'll be sad if nobody takes advantage of that great LYNX collection!

Next to PSP, LYNX is easily my second favorite handheld system of all time!

This is shaping up to be quite an event for buyers...I'll have over 100 games for $5 each. All the games I'm bringing will be $5, no need to ask the price! (I may even wear my $5 hat...).

If you show me a picture of John Hardie you can have 3 games for $10.

If you are looking for a 60 GB PS3, PM me. Mine has been getting no use and I may be forced to surrender to the authorities at Microsoft.

Oh yeah, I'll be at NAVA. This is sweet. I wasn't going to make it cause first, I thought I had work, then, I got a call from a family member about a vacation at Point Pleasent Beach. I haven't taken a day off from work nor a week so I thought I would start off with the week off and being in Point Pleasent the ENTIRE week.

THEN, I forgot I had Driving on Friday. So I had to come back today! I don't have lessons on Saturday so I'll be at NAVA! Apollo was kind enough to offer me a ride, but my friend's mon is going to drive us.... Well.... At least I hope so. See everyone there!

The best thing I saw was one turned into a lit up, blue background Fish tank.

The usual will be brought to the event.

Core Grafx complete packed with Bonus Game.

A couple of TG-16 games.

Some PSP games.

As usual, any over flow Neo Geo MVS Carts (non-home system).

A wired 360 Guitar.

My spare "phatty" PSP sans charger (but with battery and case).

Other games as usual.

You know what they say, when in Rome..

$5.00 off all purchases if you bring in a color photo or picture of my favorite mock superhero "Captain Chaos" (If you don't know, look up Cannonball Run).

I'm going to be bringing some games to get rid off and was wondering if anybody is intereted in some arcade items. I'm thinking of bringing some arcade boards, including a 465 in 1 vertical jamma board (this has lots of vertical shootem ups!).

Is there anything that people are really looking for?

If only I knew what Hardie looked like! I have never met the man before until tomorrow. I've been looking through NAVA pictures as well.

What I think we should do is when he walks in the store (or is already there) we should all clap. I have a weird feeling someone is going to make a "Welcome Back!" cake, or at least buy one.

I hope John does make it, I haven't seen him in a long while. It seems that the NAVA "old guard" has been underrepresented, at least at the last few I've been to.

Does anyone happen to be looking for any pre-recorded VHS? I found a large box full while looking for trade items. I know I have the Die Hard special editions, the Beatles Anthology, and God knows what else. If anyone would be interested to look through what I have, I'll bring it along. I'll check back in the morning before we leave. I'm looking forward to tomorrow, yay!

I'm definitely coming. I'll be brining some stuff to trade. I'm also going to bring a brand new Wii Fit I recently bought. I've had some seconds thoughts about it, so I figured I would try and sell it at NAVA before I return it to the store. I'm going to ask $100, or an amazing trade. (no complaints about price jacking - it costs me $40 in gas to get there!)

I'm looking for a nice PSP-2000 case, PSP component cables, Japanese Minna no Golf games, and good deals on atari 2600 carts I don't have. There is other stuff I'm interested in too. And I almost forgot that I need a cheap laserdisc movie worth watching to test out this LD player I just bought at Goodwill recently.

I hope to meet some new people, namely fergojisan. See you guys there!

Had a great time at NAVA like always. Met some good ol' DP regulars once again and chilled with the dudes from Life in a Game. It was awesome. Ms. Pac-Man on Atari was one of the highlights of the day for me, as my friends and I were just going and going back and forth playing that awesomeness.

Also there was epic team battles in the back in Team Fortress 2 with Apollo, Dan (Life in a Game) and others, one match should of been recorded it was soooooooooooo amazing, Apollo, you know what I'm talking about :)

Mike told us all how great he was on some game on the arcade, he was so good that he didn't even look while playing! THAT WAS AMAZING BEYOND ALL WORDS! But one thing I did not do is meet the Digital Press famous 'John Hardie'. Sucks for me eh? I hope he'll be back next month.

Well, until next time everyone! See you all there!

Pictures and video are now available!

I had a great time. A lot of the "old school" was in attendance and there was just a TON of great stuff in people's trade boxes. Excerpt from my "trade in" thread, here's some of the stuff I picked up:

Supergrafx System (loose) - Complete NEC Supergrafx system, first time traded in. No games but of course it plays all of the PC Engine Hucards and there are lots of those in the store right now.

Saturn Christmas Nights (complete) - In great condition in its little sleeve. Just in time for the holiday!

Virtual Boy System (complete) - Boxed - oops, ALMOST complete. It was missing the battery pack as the owner had purchased an AC adapter instead. I'm pretty sure I have an extra battery pack to make the set complete. Also, the AC adapter is in the box which is a nice bonus.

Sega 32X System (complete) - Also complete in box.

Atari Jaguar System (complete) - Like 3DO, it seems we're seeing more of these in the past 3 months than we'd seen in the past year prior. It's all good.

XBox 360 Lego Indiana Jones (complete) - I'm excited! This is the first time it was traded in. This is what I'll be playing the next few days.

Jaguar Game Lot (complete) - A collection of about 20 games, boxed complete. Most are the ones you see all the time, but there were some others like Alien vs. Predator, Ruiner Pinball, Raiden, and Pitfall which I don't see as often.

Sega Master System Game Lot (complete) - Similar to the above. About 25 boxed complete games, mostly common stuff but included the rare Buster Douglas Boxing as well as some uncommons like Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, Paperboy, and Strider.

Virtual Boy Game Lot (complete) - I can count the number of times we've gotten boxed Virtual Boy games in the store on one hand. Today, about 15 unique titles and some really good/hard to find ones including Jack Bros, Waterworld, Mario Clash, and Tetris 3D.

PS1 Vandal Hearts (complete) - Among a pile of PS1 games taken in today, this was the only one that stood out. One of my favorite tactical RPG's.

Wii Fit (new) - One of our NAVA members happened upon this at a store (at the time you're reading this, they're very scarce) and picked it up, knowing someone would want it. This isn't exactly a trade-in, more like a direct purchase.

Atari 2600 Game Lot (complete) - Hooray for boxed complete games from the 80's! Another NAVA member was thinning out his collection, I picked out about two dozen games from his trade box, including Sky Skipper, Racquetball, Nexar, MegaForce, Gyruss, Sssnake, GI Joe, Kool-Aid Man, Wizard of Wor, Worm War I, Fast Food, and more.

3DO Game Lot (complete) - Same guy as above, about 8 3DO games the store did not have before including Strahl, AD&D Deathkeep, Creature Shock, and Syndicate.

PS2 Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (boxed) - Ugh, missing the manual. Part of a trade with one of my store associates.

XBox Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (complete) - That's better.

Haha, definitely. It was great to finally put a face to Vectorman, after hearing about hiom being at the NAVA's but never actually meeting him. Had a blast playing TF2 in the back, and just a great time overall. Ended up selling my Wii, and the money is going right into me finally getting a 360. This past NAVA was a blast. It was the best one I have attended in quite some time. John Hardie even decided to show up! We had some epic conversations in the basement, much of which can be attributed to Mike. I know the long time forum member but new NAVA attendee, djbeatmongrel, liked it so much that he will want to come back.

John Hardie guaranteed me that he would be at the next NAVA; I told him if that is true then I will definitely be there too.

Sorry we missed it... Sparky Cutnut and I went out with a crowd for a friend's birthday party on Friday night, and I never really recovered from it... I'm still a mess. ;-)

I'm getting too old to drink like that! ;-)

If anyone wants the gory details, let me know.

Sounds like we missed a good one. I'm sure I would've gotten some of that stuff before you did, Joe!

btw I was the one that paged you on Live (was playing 1942 at the time). For some reason I could not connect to chat (probably 3 or 4 reasons at that hour, hee hee hee).

Sorry we missed out!

Sounds like a rockin good time was had by all - the typical badass NAVA. Z was out of town in Buffalo, I was busy cleaning the apartment, and Brett and Darrin . . . well, who the hell knows what they do on weekends.

See you next month?

Haven't watched the videos yet but the Game Boy Camera pictures are AWESOME. I did manage to get a far away photo in there, but if you're back with that in August, I want an avatar-sized close-up. I would think EVERYONE there would want a "look, that's me" picture on the Game Boy camera!

Nice job.

I am glad to see an audience is starting to develop over my Game Boy Camera pictures! I always loved fudging around with cameras and camcorders. Back in 1999 or 2000 when I was 13 or 14 I made my own little video game review show called "King's Spotlight" with the very same camcorder I am using now to record NAVA events. I used all kinds of nifty tricks with my camcorder, video games, and my VCR to splice video game footage and title cards [made with Mario Paint of course!] in-between talking segments.

I think it is a great idea to start getting profile pictures of everybody. I was thinking it might be cool if we can all work together to make 'video profiles' with some camcorders of all the active DP forum users who come to NAVA and post them online so people can associate a face with the plethora of usernames on here. Perhaps I can ask each member some atypical gaming related questions like "What's your favorite game?" or "What was the last game you beat?". If the Game Boy Camera pictures get popular enough I thought it would be cool if I bought some more Game Boy Cameras from Digital Press, bring some of my older Game Boys [I actually need to buy a Game Boy Color now that I think about it], and have people take more pictures for me.

Oh, and I meant to tell you Joe, I sent you a friend request to you on Facebook without any sort of message. I am listed as "Chris King" and my profile picture is Zero as he appeared in the Mega Man Zero series as of now. I am coming over to the store tomorrow to make some small purchases, I hope to see you there!

Dylan, speaking of avatars where did you get your current avatar from? It is incredibly cute and I really want to know the source o_O!

I actually found this avatar from a forum friend of mine over at TheGameHeroes.com. It was so incredibly awesome that I just had to use it as my avatar!
