there was a pretty good action game back in the genesis system called valis and the made a couple of games for the system , i loved the series and thought they shouldve made more games, do you think it would be a good idea if the made a game for the ps3 or xbox 360? could the game work and could it be done?

Possibly, but the current rights-holders would rather make cell-phone games (http://www.telenet.co.jp/games/k_valis/valis01.html) and Valis porn (http://www.bb5.jp/pr/valis/valisx/01/index.php). Valis was never all that great to begin with, anyway.

Valis was more of a Turbo Duo kinda deal. You should check those out. You might also like Kendo Rage on SNES. But, yeah, considering the current state of the license, the best thing we can wish for is for it to be laid to rest.

Valis was incredible! The Genesis ports were VERY admirable for not being on CD, but it was the Turbo Grafx versions that really helped pioneer many things we take for granted these days.

Ninja Gaiden might have been one of the earlier games on console to pioneer the idea of using cut scenes to help tell a story, but it was the Valis series that really showed us how it could be done on CD.

The Valis series had phenomenal character designs, voiced animated cut scenes, some of the greatest Redbook audio sound tracks to grace a game and did it all with anime flair. Something that was virtually unknown to US audiances at the time. Also the fact that each game picked up after the events in the last. It created a continuous story, a living breathing world where you could really feel a connection to the characters.

The Valis games were ESENTIAL at the dawn of CD gaming. The series really showed gamers the strength of the CD format over cart. Sure the games were hard as nails and sometimes had some VERY sloppy level design, but their impact and influence on the gaming world can not be ignored.

Funny that someone brought this up. I am the owner of all US Valis Games on both the Duo and the Genesis. The thing is, that, espically on Valis III, its much more playable on the Genesis when it comes to gameplay(different level sequence and less cheap deaths). The Duo has all the great cinemas that made the game a great early movie/game. As for the topic, I think tha the Valis Series could be remade wonderfully, but like many great ideas, it will probably never happen. The only way I could see it happening is if they added a music sequence in which you have to sing along to advance your character....

Honestly...maybe for the DS some day, but probably not

I love the title of this thread. It's so generic. LOL

It would be neat if they made a 360 Valis, and kept the 90s anime look. That's the biggest problem with the porn game...it's so generic pastel looking! It should be bold 90s anime colors damnit.

current valis.... hmm well they've destroyed much better 2d series' by making them 3d i say sure why the hell not :). I was never able to get into valis because of all the cheap seemingly unavoidable hits. though i did manage to make it to the stage 5 boss through sheer repetitive play.

I think Valis was a great concept, but the execution didn't do it justice. With it's story and characters, don't you think it could have turned into something great if only the games were more than just generic platformers?

I loved the valis series. It was a nice change of pace to have a female character in a darker kind of action game.
