So what unreleased games would you like to see finished/released?

Hands down Eternal Champions: The Final Chapter!!!

Fox ran a sweepstakes (is that how you spell it?) back when the Sega Saturn was released and showed some footage of EC:TFC. I got a Saturn just for this game and then it was never released.

But my friends and I got years of fun out of Eternal Champions: Challenge From the Dark Side on the Sega CD. I just salavate thinking of what the Saturn version could have been.

phase zero for atari jaguar. and the pen and teller game smoke and mirrors for sega cd. i know it did wind up seeing a release but its price is ungodly (this was even the case at the original release point of $200 now it goes for as much as 600-700!) so im going to throw battlesphere for jaguar into the mix as well.

Dreamcast - Geist Force, Black n' White, Take the Bullet and the English release of Sakura Wars [Taisen].

NeoGeo - IronClad on MVS/AES and Karate Ninja Sho.

NGPC - Windjammers, Metal Slug 3rd Mission, King of Fighters R3, Ikari Warriors. In fact, there's quite a few unreleased NGPC titles that were announced or rumored to be in development that I'd love to play.

N64 - I'd love to see Dinosaur Planet before it became Star Fox Adventures.

Still waiting on Dronez to get a proper US release.

The only people who got it here were people that bought a GeForce 3 card, or imported the Xbox version from Japan.

It was originally slated for the PC and Dreamcast. Then after the DC was canned, they decided to port it to the first Xbox. Japan got it - Metro3D canceled the US release.

Sonic X-treme for the sega saturn. This had quite the following back in the day which I missed out on, but the youtube videos are amazing. The fish-eye lens view is incredible. A very early (and lame) proto was released a while back on assembler games, but apparently someone has a nearly complete copy that they aren't releasing due to legal concerns. Maybe someday...

Gameboy Advance - Mega Man Anniversary Collection. Seriously, how hard is it to port 5 Gameboy games to the GBA? The damn thing got delayed for months and months before it was given the axe.

Sega 32X - Castlevania: Bloodletting. There isn't much info about it except for a few sprites but as a Castlevania aficionado I'd have liked to see it.

Sega Dreamcast - Castlevania: Resurrection. Oh, what could have been.

??? - Chrono Break. Sure, it was just a title and nothing else but I'd still like to see a new entry in the series.

Xbox - N.U.D.E.@ North American release. I doubt a western release was ever even contemplated but the game seems interesting enough. Who doesn't want to order around a robo-chick? Too bad my Japanese is rudimentary at best.

There are others but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Seconding Rent a Hero no 1 and adding Metal Wolf Chaos. I can't believe From Software couldn't find a US publisher for it :'( Oh Sega, if only you'd said, "Yes" instead of, "Hell no".

I still think Nintendo should throw StarFox 2 up on the Wii VC.

I am lucky enough to have a repro I can play on the original hardware, and it is a really cool game. The DS Starfox is like a newer version of it, but most people have never played the original.

Oh, and I second the Game Boy Mega Man comp. They apparently lost the original code for some of the games, but they could have emulated them. I know most of us would still buy this as a DS release. Come on Capcom!

Shit, get someone like Hamster or Jaleco to publish 'em. Those guys have nothing against jacking open source emulators and releasing commercial products with them. With their lax morals and Capcom's backcatalog, we could have some pretty awesome handheld compilations :(

Oh - and whatever happened to the Dreamcast version of Planet of the Apes? I seem to remember that game being hyped to death.

And one other game I completely forgot - Armada 2.

Armada 1 for the DC kicked major ass. Now imagine Armada with online play.... *sigh*

And no, Armada Online (the virtually unknown PC MMO) just doesn't have the same feel. In fact, it barely has any players period.

going to have to second an official translation of shining force 3 scenario 2 and 3.

if you want the closest thing to online armada check out continuum formerly known as subspace.

ill also second star fox 2.

a 32x castlevania!??! id never even heard of it but sign me up i love 32x i love castlevania pair the two and you have something magic.

while were on 32x how about porting that damned japanese romance of the three kingdoms i would have loved to have played that back in the day.

black and white on dreamcast.... might have worked. i can't see playing it with a controller very well though. it goes squarely in the realm of games that COULD be decent on a console but probably would have sucked as hard as starcraft 64.

Starcraft Ghost for the PC... maybe a little off-topic, but it was still a game that I would have liked to see the light-of-day...

Hell, I'd just love to see a couple of different builds of it get leaked; namely the final build from before Nihilistic got taken off the project and the final build from Swinging Ape before it got taken off the front burner and thrown on the back.

Adding to the list of neat shit I would have loved to have seen get finished and released:
Hired Guns (PC) - The update/sequel/whatever that was being built on the Unreal engine. A beta build of it leaked and can be found labeled as a demo, but I would have loved to have seen this sucker finished.

X-Com Alliance (PC) - Unreal engine FPS with the X-Com license. It might have wound up as bad as (or worse than) X-Com Enforcer, but god damn did it have some promise.

It was released for the Gamecube in PAL territories and it works great with the Freeloader on an NTSC machine. Not sure if the Xbox version ever made it out in Europe, although Conan by TDK did, so it's possible.

Saturn: Dungeons & Dragons Collection, Dragon Force II

SNES: Journey Home. The japanese release (Neugier) was extremely short but a blast to play through, I really wish it got a north american release.

Dreamcast: Hundred Swords (the neutered PC one that got released here doesn't count).

DS: How hard would it be to make a damn Game & Watch compilation?

I've always had a really strong fascination with unreleased games, particularly if they never got released in any region. I think one of my favorite things about reading old game magazines is reading about games that were ultimately canned or were changed significantly in development (getting to try the original version of Conker 64 would be neat).

But in terms of what canceled releases sadden me, the Virtual Boy definitely takes the cake. The quality of the games were just starting to take off when it was canned, and I can only imagine how great all those games that were lined up could of been, especially when looking at awesome released games like Wario Land are. And, of course, the poor system could definitely use a larger library. Dragon Hopper and Bound High were pretty much ready to come out, and they both looked like potentially fun games. Considering people actually played these games and enjoyed them, there's gotta be prototypes out there that absolutely need to be preserved. I don't think I even need to go into how awesome it would've been to get the untitled Mario game, and as a huge F-Zero X fan, the cancellation of Zero Racers practically makes me weep. :(

N64 - freakin' Robotech 64. I know it looked like trash in it's final days, but man, I used to get so giddy as a kid whenever I saw any new developments on it.

SNES - A US version of Live-A-Live.

Gamecube - That Kirby game, they said they were making it for the Wii but...

Genesis - Omg. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=TYRz3oWVEMQ)

Legions of the Undead, Dactyl Joust, Black Ice/White Noise, Freelancer 2120, Soul Star, T-Mek, Conan, Robinson's Requiem, and Space War 2000 for the Atari Jaguar.

There was a game that Activision dropped a few years ago that I thought had crazy amounts of promise. It was a zombie killing game, but with a lot of vehicle action. It was called Dead Rush, and Activision announced that they didn't think it would be a massive seller and canned it. I guess nobody wants to bother putting out a good seller, it has to be a blockbuster or they'll kill it off in utero. It looked pretty damn sweet.

Playstation:

Thrill Kill. The bootleg is nice but I want an official release.

Macross VF2. I know it would have probably sucked, but it's an anime licensed Macross game....it's SUPPOSE to suck.

Dreamcast:

Half-Life. Sure, theres like 12 official copies of this game out there
but what about the rest of us?

Castlevania Resurrection. No way am I paying $500 plus to play an
incomplete beta/proto version.

Saturn:

Radiant Silvergun. Why pay $150 plus when you can have a cheaper localized version?

Xbox:

Starcraft Ghost. I don't care if it ended up sucking, I want this game.

Red Star. Yes, I know a PS2 version was released(which I have) but I played
the Xbox demo verson and now I want the full game experience.

Underworld. I actually found out about this game(based on the Kate Beckingsale vampire movie) by watching gameplay footage on the white XBox kiosk disc. This game was never shown on the retail magazine disc. It didn't look super special but I would still have loved for it to have been released.

Does anybody have any info on this game? It's not in the rarity guide - does anyone know if a proto copy exists or was this game just an idea?

Magic of Scheherazade 2. I loved the first one and did see an advertisement in an old magazine, but never released.

Eight days. The PS3 needs some good exclusives and this looked amazing. Was cancelled.

Scarface 2. I loved Scarface the World is Yours and easily my favorite GTA clone. Even better than the GTA games in my opinion. Only thing that sucks is that Miami is small as hell in Scarface in proportion to any of the GTA/Driver games. Kindof upset that this game was confirmed and cancelled the same day.

For games that are unreleased from Japan. I do import, but I'd like to see a few Gundam games, the A.C.E. PS2 games, and the Hokuto no Ken fighter for PS2. I own a few of these that I listed(some Gundam and A.C.E.,) but I'd like to see English releases.

Megaman: The Wily Wars! It was one of the reasons I got my genesis, and my 10 year-old heart was devastated when I read it was a Sega Channel exclusive (which of course, my cable company didn't carry.)
Also, there used to be print ads for Lufia & The Fortress of Doom for Genesis, as well as another RPG, Brandish (GamePro, Nov. '94). Both would have been cool additions.
Also games I would have LOVED:
Shenmue 3
Virtua Cop 3 (why didn't we get a port? The arcade game is frickin' sweet!)
Megaman Anniversary Collection GBA
Starfox 2 (very technically impressive!)
Ecco for the Saturn/32x
The Sims, Propeller Arena and B&W for DC
Earthbound NES

As for that Sat AM Sonic demo, it looks kind of sluggish and god-awful, kind of like the way X-PERTS plays. Ugh.
And as far as Penn & Teller's S&M is concerned, there are leaks on teh intarnets with a PDF manual... I got myself a copy 2 years ago! Desert Bus's theme = :guitar:
