We've posted a new Street Fighter 4 Moves List and Strategy Guide. Here's a link.

http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2008/jul/08/street-fighter-4-strategy-guide-hints-and-tips/

Street Fighter 4 was released in Japanese arcades recently, and there will be some units floating around in America soon. Thought it would be cool to spread the word about the current moves list before people start playing the game, so they know what to expect.

If you have any feedback on this, please just leave a reply on this thread.

The game is only on test still in Japan. It comes out in a few weeks, but there is no USA arcade release. No distributor, nothing. People have to import it at silly prices.

Ahh, I thought it was released in Japan today. My bad. Thanks for the heads up.

Would it kill them to give the established characters new moves? Even Super Street Figher 2 Turbo HD Remix is giving Ryu a feint move.

I'm sure the chinese arcade at my hometown in canada has already pirated it. Gotta love those chinese arcade owners. He also charges .25 still, unlike Japan, which is a friggin dollar a play.

Why mess with something that's not broken?

Because I could just play any number of previous Capcom fighters and get nearly the exact same experience. I could pop SSF2 in my SNES, SFA1 in my Saturn, SFA3 in my DC, MvC in my DC, or lots of other versions I'm forgetting, and I'd get nearly the exact same experience. Sure, SF4 is 3D, but that's what the SFEX series is for.

You're pretty accurate here, but there's one big problem with this...

If you do that, Capcom doesn't make any more money. :D

If you mean a fighting game, yeah I guess you're right.

Graphics, gameplay, and moves look all beefed up though, and more beef is always good...no?

Capcom probably wasn't making any money at the end of their run of fighting games. That's probably why they went mostly dormant on new fighting games for a number of years. I think it's because they kept on rehashing the same old shit over and over again.

And I don't count pressing two punch buttons for some sort of more powerful version of a 20 year old move as beefing things up.

I didn't like Street Fighter 3 or any of its incarnations, but a lot of people did, and I've got to give it to Capcom for mixing things up as much as they did. After that, Street Fighter 4 feels like a step back. It doesn't look like SF4. It looks like SFEX4.

And oddly enough, players have figured out how to do a sort of parrying in Street Fighter 4. It's actually not too far removed from parrying in SF3.

Check out the embedded video here.

Pretty sweet.

We just revised the SF4 Balrog guide on EventHubs.com.

http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2008/jul/07/balrog-boxer-street-fighter-4-character-guide/

His main guide has lots of great information on how raise your game up and play him at a higher level. The main page is almost 3,000 words long, which is huge, and if you're curious about a particular move or just want to know some tricks on how to improve your game, the information inside is broken out into sections to make it easy to digest.

From how to maximize damage when you're juggling with his Ultra to keeping charged up while executing his Headbutt and Run Punches, you'll find some great info here.

We also created a page featuring 7 videos of top players using the Boxer: http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2009/apr/04/balrog-boxer-top-match-videos-street-fighter-4/

And another article that shows you how to handle some specific vs. character match ups. http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2009/apr/04/balrog-boxer-vs-character-strategies-street-fighter-4/

Hope this is helpful.

I hate facing those turtling Balrogs >_> I run into so many of those at my level now. They're beatable, though.

Haha. While I was putting together this guide, that was a strategy/combo I saw a lot in matches.

I guess you've been playing a lot against people who use it too. :P

Funnily enough I played two Balrogs this afternoon and that's what they did 80% of the time as well :p

Nothing a tiger knee and uppercut can't fix when out of range...
