Nabbed this thing off of eBay from a guy hocking several other protos. I posted about it in the 'rarest item' thread because... well... is my only '10'.

Anywho... What do you guys know about this particular devcart? It has "DMG MBC1 MULTI CHECKER-01" stamped on the board, but that brings up nothing in Google. Any info about this thing would be cool.

Secondly, I PMed one of you about dumping the ROM for me. Unfortunately there's a national border between us and that drives up the shipping costs a tad. If anyone is in the eastern US and willing to do the service, I can ship the bare EPROM, paid both ways.

Here are the other two pics I posted (horrible quality, so only worth about 300 words each).

The ROM is of a game called Cyraid and the EPROM window cover says "CYRAID V0.1"

There's a few of that type of proto board running around. I have a bunch of Game Boy protos as well, and the guy you got them from sold a bunch of goodies..

Most excellent!

Owning the proto is awesome, having a unique piece of gaming history is always great. However I am REAL interested in how the devcart itself works. It has a series of DIP switches, and the only thing I have been able to get out of them is bucketloads of fail.

I'll definitely keep the chip safe, but I wanna fool around with a real Nintendo development cartridge :D

EDIT: You guys have a repository for prototype dumps and such, correct? If so, I would be glad to offer the dump of this proto to said pile-o-files.

I have a printout of that dipswitch style for that board, IIRC, it just changed the compatibility of the board with the memory capacity of the EPROM, that's it.

Yep, it was on one of the protos I had bought from you in the past as well. Just changes the rom type.

And that's what I am interested in :D

If either of you can shoot me a link to this printout, I'd be much appreciative :) Thanks again!

You're really not suppsoed to play with the dip switches while you have a rom loaded. It *shouldn't* cause damage, but it very well could.

I love GB/GBA/DS first gen dev carts. They're always rediculous to try to play... The DS are particularly notorious for breaking while in the hands of careless QA temps

I know, shame on me :( but I was curious and fairly certain that I would not damage the EPROM.
