A local kid has a jungle green N64 with 10 games. I have talked him down to $20 bucks. Some of the games include Super smash bros, mario party 2, pokemon 1 and 2 and 6 others.

the differnt coloured systems are fairly hard to come by, and if the system is working thats a fair price for the system by itself, and the games you mentioned are worth it as well. i'd go for it.

At $20, you're not ripping him off enough. I would talk him down to $5 or $10.

may as well go for it. I got a lot of N64 stuff so I personally would have no use for it, but $20 is really low.

My problem is I have 3 working grey N64 systems - but I only have 1 game he is selling. I figured at worst I am paying $2 a piece for games. He says the system works.

I think it's a good price for what you're getting. I know I'd pick it up for that price.

Welll I met the kid yesterday. He was like 14 years old. I pulled out 17 bucks and told him thats all I had. He gave me the bag of games and system and left. It also had a memory card and a N64 transfer pack.

actually, I had $20 bucks with me. I would never show with less than offered but I took 1 look at the kid and the bag it was all thrown into and pulled out my cash. I counted to 17 and told him "Here. I got $17. Will you take it?" He said sure. Took the cash and gave me the bag. If he was hard up about getting $20 he should have said no. Trust me, by the way he was listing stuff on Craigslist, he needed cash ASAP!

WoW, getting blasted for trying to haggle? Nice, real nice!
I would almost bet everyone of you guys have haggled once or twice in your life over something, but I am a bad guy for doing it?
I truely hope you pay RETAIL for everything you buy flyers156!

Hope it was worth the $3. I know I'll probably never deal with you though. I bet a few more are thinking the same thing

There is NOTHING wrong with haggling, but what you did was lie. First off you agreed to pay $20 for this lot only to show up and lie in some kid's face that all you had was $17 even though you had the $20.
I don't bother to haggle if I'm going to be getting a fucking steal as I'm doing well enough.
I certainly won't be paying retail for anything, I do so well at my flea markets each weekend it would make you head spin.

Another flame over this... Geez.
You would never deal with me because I offered a kid 17 dollars instead of 20 for a bag of games. Wow. Have I added yet that nothing has been tested to see if it even works. I could be getting the short end of the stick here. As for dealing with me? Seriously if you dont want to deal with me over $3 that "YOU" personally did not lose than whatever. Maybe I should comment on the MONTHLY FINDS thread to everyone that offers someone less than what they were asking for something. I see plenty all of the time.

Booooooo! to you sir!
Tis' a little different then haggling with the jackals of e-bay wouldn't you say?
Any of those Mario games can go for a $20 bill on any given day all bye it's loansome...
You must be proud.

Yes, The Shawn, very proud to get a deal.
Sorry to all of you folks that are much further off than me making big bucks in a terrible economy. I have a house, bills and a family to take care of. I certainly hope none of you use self checkouts at wal marts as well because that is taking away a job of some poor 16 y/o kid or a mother of 2 trying to get by!

Actually I came into this thread wanting to say "20 bucks for all that stuff, you bet that's a deal!
Then I read how the kid was 14, and knowing this, you squizzled another 3 dollars off the Deal.
Finding the bargain was something to be proud off, being a shady person to do buisiness with is not.

how is it affecting your economic situation, you can sell one of those games for $20 and everything else is free. $20 was better than a deal, it was a steal.
Haggling is fine, but to lie to a kid?
I live in pittsburgh as well, i wish i would have known about it i would have paid over 20 for it.

Well I am not interested in selling any of the games so them being worth $20 a piece means nothing. I dont sell games, I only buy them to play.
Just an update for all of those who have had their panties in a bunch I talked to the kid today and am going to buy some other stuff off of him and this time I am paying him what he wants for his Sega stuff, not haggling. You guys have made me feel bad enough for trying to save a few bucks so I just asked him to give me a price and I would pay.

And I call BS. If that's the truth then great, good for you, but that sooooo sounds like you're just trying to cover your ass by making up a story to put you back in a good light. I've heard it all before.

Carl,
I knew someone would reply like that but the truth is he was selling some gamecube, n64 and sega stuff. I only had the 20 with me so I did not want to ask about the other stuff until I knew I could pay for it. He actually emailed me today and asked if everything worked. I told him I havent checked it but got into a discussion about the genesis games he had. I figured what the heck, why not pick up some extra Genesis games and he lives about 5 minute away from my house. As for me trying to get back in everyone good graces? Lol, this is a public forum, not my family. If someone doesnt want to talk to me or deal with me due to me trying to save a few bucks then I could really care a less. I just figured I would let everyone know that I told him I would pay what he wanted instead of trying to deal on his stuff. He wants a mere 15 bucks for 9 or 10 Genesis games.
