Lots of vareity in there. That Dylan song is a strange choice though.

I think it's a good list. I'm happy with the number and the variety of the songs, now I just need to convince myself that I don't need that new drum set.

Steely Dan = instant win.

I'm surprised they haven't been picked for a guitar game yet. "Reelin' In The Years" is another song that had a great guitar solo (not to mention "Aja"'s drum parts).

"Aqualung" is another great choice. It's about time some of these games gave progressive rock a nod.

God, I wish they'da picked My Old School for Steely Dan instead of Bodi and Live Wire for the AC/DC song. I will be looking forward to Chop Suey, Today, Battery and American Woman. It must be a good assortment because there sure is a lotta shit in there I don;t give a damn for :-D ...

HOLY SHIT, THE MUFFS??!!

One of my all-time favorite rock acts, and one of the few bands that I built a "hang out backstage" with relationship in the mid-90's.

http://www.the-muffs.com/

Kind of strange that Harmonix went with the Kim Wilde cover of Kids in America, but I suppose that the Clueless soundtrack (which they recorded that for) sold more than any of their studio albums. (And Harmonix probably got a deal on that soundtrack as I see that The Mighty Mighty Bosstones' Rock Band 2 debut is off of that alubm as well.)

In any case, I'm going to write Kim, Ronnie and Roy an email and congratulate them on being an official part of the Rock Band movement.

Finally a Modest Mouse song. I just hope that it doesn't make them become outragously popular. That would suck.

Good to see Bang Camaro and Rage Against the Machine.

Everlong is on the list?! Nice! That's a song I've been dying to play on Guitar Hero and Rock Band. The Setlist is great, I was surprised to see L7 on there and it would've been even cooler to see 7 Year Bitch on there, but maybe they'll be added via dlc.

This tracklist, along with discless compatability with RB and full integration within RB2 for RB1, RB2, and DLC content, AND the $299 Drum Kit means that Guitar Hero: World Tour just became a pass to me.

The music creation features sound promising, but they also sound forced and half-thought through. I'm going to wait for Rock Band's take on music creation in the next iteration and instead enjoy the 500 songs that will be available in September for the Rock Band platform.

LOL Sorry, I thought Ben Lee did it first!

Apparently he was covering them.

Despite both of their moderate populatiry, I'm not a huge fan of either, so it was an honest mistake.

I don't think Freezepop is ever mentioned in the "main track listing" for any guitar game that Harmonix has worked on. They're always in the bonus tracks.

Also, fun fact, they don't make ANY royalties off of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games that they're in due to the fact that The Duke of Pannekoeken works for Harmonix!

For every Dream Theater and Motorhead they have to put in a Linkin Park and Alanis. Why can't they all be good songs!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Oh well. I hated Rock Band's set list before I actually played the game (I like most of it now, though there are a lot of stinkers) but this one, how the hell can anyone enjoy rocking out to Linkin Park and Alanis?!?!

Dear Harmonix, please add "Hoist that Rag" by Tom Waits. Thanks.

They aren't listed in the Bonus tracks though.

They may not directly be making money from RB/GH sales, but the exposure it has gotten them is insane and well worth it. Even when Frequency and Amplitude were around, very few people knew of them. Now even my cousins, my 16 year old sister and all of her friends know who they are, and none of them are into video games.

Another fun fact, I'm probably their biggest fan on DP.

Pretty good setlist, although I'm always amazed by the amount of songs I've never heard of. I'd say half that list is really good, at least a quarter has no interest to me, and a quarter I've never heard before.

Oh, and the Acrobrats will have to be one of the bonus tracks. They haven't missed a game since Guitar Hero.

I JUST spoke with Kim Shattuck (lead singer/guitarist of The Muffs) and she mused mild disappointment with Harmonix's choice to go with their cover of Kim Wilde's "Kids in America" ... as there's no residuals to be had for a cover-song.

She said that Harmonix also asked for their original track "Saying Goodbye", a GREAT Muffs song from their 1st album, and one that I SINCERELY hope finds it's way to downloadable content for Rock Band 2.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62f5YA7oNrc

Check it out. (Though the video accompanying the track isn't The Muffs ... it's Kim in her other band The Beards, still, the song is her with The Muffs.)

As someone who "pretty much always" gets mic duty in party-settings of this game, I'm glad to see this one in. It was a strong album, and a fun track to sing. You have to keep in mind that this isn't Guitar Hero, or even Drum Hero. There's got to be some strong stuff in there for us female vocalists too ^^

Overall though, I like the inclusion of more classic rock.

I hope one day there will be a 1990s alternative rock track pack:

Belly
Bjork
The Breeders
The Cranberries
Foo Fighters
Garbage
Gin Blossoms
Green Day
Hole
Juliana Hatfield
Matthew Sweet
The Meat Puppets
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Radiohead
The Rentals
Silverchair
Soul Asylum
Stone Temple Pilots
Sound Garden
They Might Be Giants
Toad the Wet Sprocket
Weezer
etc.

Then, I'd be happy!

I, for one, am excited about "Teen Age Riot" by Sonic Youth being on there. I've never actually played any of these games before now, but *that* song might bring me on board. They couldn't have picked a better SY song to rock out to IMO.

(That first Modest Mouse comment was pretty funny, as I have been talking to my buddy about the show of theirs we saw back in 2000 where The White Stripes opened for them on the "Moon & Antartica" tour just around the time they got huge. Good times.)

Wow, oh wow. Looking at the set list, all I can say is: definitely a buy! Now, the only issue is that I don't have the first RB (played it at a friend's house, it was fun but not enough songs I love to warrant getting it). So, since I don't have the instruments and don't plan on getting RB1, I have to get the current gen edition (the PS2 edition is disk-only).

Which means that this is the last game to settle the deal: I'm definitely getting a 360 (yes, I know it's also coming out for PS3 and Wii, but in general, the 360's the console with the most games that interest me anyways).

Considering that Karaoke Revolution is all but dead (the next one, American Idol Encore 2 is coming out on current gen consoles only and doesn't seem that interesting in terms of songlist) and that I love rock in general (which is the focus of RB and much less so of KR), it's a no-brainer to figure out which game will be my next karaoke goodness purchase. :)

I loooooove Harmonix. :D

Hello, primary focus of my Christmas list. :D

Since I don't have RB1 yet, I figure I'm going to get the complete set of RB2, instruments and all, and then obtain the game of RB1 without the older instruments. I'm mostly interested in the more durable drums, as I have seen them break down quite easily.

Unless you can't live without playing Paranoid, Enter Sandman, and Run to the Hills, there won't be much point in buying RB1 after RB2. Borrow or rent RB1, pay the $5 fee to transfer the songs to your hard drive, and you'll have 55 of the 58 RB1 songs.
