So, this is the future of arcade cabs. I've seen some other LCD cabs and they look absolutely terrible. This is the first one I've seen with the monitor properly integrated and at least resembling a Candy, or at least the love-child of a Naomi and a Candy.

If you're lucky enough to find an arcade with Street Fighter IV, it should be running on one of these bad boys. The monitor is rotatable too which is nice.
So, what do you guys and gals think then? It's obviously the future of arcade gaming and I reckon it looks pretty cool. How much you say? Brand new £3000.

The only thing I worry about is the quality and response time of the LCD. With technical fighting games and twitch shooters, those milliseconds can mean a LOT.

What I wonder is, with arcades' profit margins shrinking, are more expensive machines the right way to go? Yeah, it looks nice but the more expensive the machine, the fewer arcades that will buy one and the more expensive each credit will be in the arcades that do thus chasing away potential customers.

yeah I doubt we'll see much of these, the arcade is dying.

I kind of expected the future of arcades to be somethign huge...like the virtual reality we were promised years ago. Not just a "new" display on an old design. But it does look nice I suppose.

With the flood of what you can play at home with High definition TV's and Monitors I seriously doubt these are going to be common place. To tell you the truth, I haven't seen anything new that I wanted to play at an arcade in over 10 years.
Surely nothing that warrant's a $1 a play...
Allthough it looks quite cool!

I think these are cool and all, but I wouldn't have room for it if I could afford one. The standup flat panel cabinets for the new Tekken game at the mall arcade is pretty neat. But seriously, if SFIV winds up being compatible with CRT monitors, I imagine most western arcades will put them in burned out old showcase cabinets. That's what my local arcade would do. :|
And I do hope the PC release of SFIV is compatible with a CRT and ArcadeVGA card...

Sega used LCD monitors for House of the Dead 4 and After Burner Climax, and I think both look quite good.
Sega also did a bangup job of hiding the sensors in HotD4 - unless they built a new lightgun technology that can be used on LCD's.
