Does anyone here ever find any good video game stuff in the classifieds of the newspaper?
Thanks.

about a week or two ago I found this ad it was for a Super Nintendo with 10 games, some of the games were Mega Man x2, Donkey Kong Country 1 and 3, Both Super mario world games...ect...for $45 but naturally it was already sold when I called a couple days after it got posted.
Never found anything before or after that.

This is somewhat of a repost of an earlier topic. This is just my experiences, so YMMV:
You might be able to find something in the garage sale section of the classifieds. If a garage sale even has games, it's usually listed under "misc." or "electronics". Very rarely (once or twice) does the actual listing say "video games for sale". Just use descernment. If a sale offers "clothes, antiques, furniture", you're probably not going to net anything. Sales that describe "TV's, electronics, misc." are a good bet. I've found a very nice rare at a garage sale...just gotta keep looking.
As a aside, you should also use the classifieds to your benefit. Not only to get a heads-up for garage sales, but to place an ad of your own. Most papers have a "Wanting To Buy" section. Just place an ad saying that you're looking for old video games (or new, depending on what you're looking for), with a description of what you like. I've done this several times, and even if you have to sift through the "10 common NES games" offer, you can usually get something pretty good before it's all said and done.

Microsoft makes Atari VCS games now? ;)
It wasn't a prototype or anything, but it was still a game that got low distribution. DP Guide rates it as an R9 (The Music Machine).

No they aren't. It was the Microsoft Garage Sale.

I saw an ad in the paper for a 3DO and a bunch of games for $100. I picked that up.
I also saw an Atari ST computer with a color monitor and a high res black and white monitor, and some edutainment software for $30. Got that too! now just need good games.

I can't say I've ever been lucky enought to find anything in my local newspaper but craigslist is usually filled with goodies..the only problem around here is alot of people have the ebay bug and they charge collectors prices

Around here the classifieds are comprised mostly of one of three basic types of sellers:
1. Can't afford the truck payment this month so he's trying to sell his used PS3 and/or games for original retail price.
2. Can't afford the rent payment this month so he's trying to sell his used PS2 and/or games for original retail price.
3. 14 years old, wants a Wii. Mom won't pony up the dough and he's too lazy to mow lawns. Selling his Gameboy Color with Tetris and two Pokemon carts for $50. Alternately, it's an N64 (1 controller) with a nasty stack of EA Sports and WWF titles for $80 :shameful:.
Craigslist (to which I'm still fairly new) doesn't posit much better options, and is similarly plagued with outlandish Ebay pricing. I did recently purchase a Flashback 2 off of CL for $20, but that's not exactly scoring teh r@r3z.

The problem with getting good deals on craigslist is that you have to act FAST. I replied to a listing once for a huge lot of game stuff for $30 as soon as it was listed. The seller emailed me back about 5 minutes later saying that she had gotten 10 offers but since I was the 1'st then I could have it.
