Just wondering, I know the commlete standalone ADAM system could also play Colecovision cartridges, I was wondering though, were there any cartridges that absolutely required the ADAM system that would not load on a standard Colecovision? Did the full ADAM system have extra memory or other enhancements for games?

You are aware that the ADAM had numerous games distributed on digtal cassettes, right? So I suppose the question is, would the ADAM cassette games run on an ordinary ColecoVision if they were copied to a cart? (That is, assuming you made some changes like disabling the portions of code that tried to write to the cassette, of course.)

oh yeah, I was totally aware of that, it was because of that I asked, I figured since games on those cassettes had extra levels or features (like Donkey Kong) then the ADAM must of had extra capability. So my thinking that later cartridge releases might of been enhanced for ADAM, maybe even playable on ColecoVision but missing some levels but fully realized when played on ADAM. I guess that would of been possible but I am assuming the failure of ADAM probably ceased further development of such concepts.......

That's not necessarily true. Cartridge ROM was extremely expensive at the time (if I am not mistaken), and it's possible that programs of that size could only be economically distributed on the cheaper, larger-capacity cassettes.

In fact, there's a ROM of a prototype of ColecoVision Donkey Kong that includes the "pie factory" level (though that level doesn't have hit detection), and as I recall it's twice the size of the ROM of the released version.

Futhermore, a couple of years ago someone created some conversions of some MSX games, and they ran on the ColecoVision, even though they were probably more complex (or at least larger) than most other ColecoVision ROMs. My memory is a bit fuzzy on the subject, though.

Good points and interesting thought there Jorpho! I never thought of that, damn it would of been interesting to see future cartridge titles if the Colecovision had lasted longer. I might look into those MSX ports though to, anyone tried any of those?

Ah, these seem to be the guys!
