A Japanese fan went through and remade Rockman 7 into a Homebrew PC game that would be right at home on any NES. The graphics, controls, music, sounds, everything, are as close to flawless as it gets, especially for a homebrew effort. The game is simply amazing.

That would be me playing. And I am well aware that I am terrible at any and all platformers, especially ones where Ive only had 30 minutes to get the hang of it. I was never good at the original MM NES games, I was always an X fan

heh.. that's okay then, I thought it was the fellow that made the game. I couldn't understand why he wouldn't be better at it if he made it.
Don't feel bad, the only 8-bit Mega Man I can beat is 3 :D

The only one I could beat is, ironically, Mega Man 7 on the SNES, but this one is different enough to make it a totally different ballgame

When I was a kid (about 8-10) I could breeze through Mega Man 1 and 2 fairly easily but never could get into part 3.
But, now I suck at most early Mega Man titles. I think all of those easy modern games have spoiled me.

Awesome, but too bad it's not on a NES or famicom cart.

Seriously amazing find my friend! This makes me extreme Mega Man nerd heart dance with joy :) I know some Japanese so I'll poke around this guy's site, and try to find other things like this. I've poked around on Nico Nico Douga (Japanese Youtube) and found some stuff like this, so I'll see if there are any other good ones out there.

Another group is in the process of remaking Rockman 8 in 8-bit form. Sadly, this isn't finished yet, but if you poke around, there's bit of music done, the title screen, sprites for Sword Man, Frost Man, and Grenade Man, and others :)
I can't wait for this one to be finished!

This is an amazing find. I am a huge Mega Man fan, and I'll definitely check this out.
Man, when Mega Man Collection and Mega Man X Collection came out, I made sure to pick those up. God I love Mega Man.
