Midway plans to eviscerate PlayStation 2 owners this September, bundling together the previous three Mortal Kombat (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mortal-kombat) titles as a single $30 box set. The compilation, dubbed the Mortal Kombat: Kollection, will include 3D fighters Mortal Kombat: Deception and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, as well as the under appreciated action game, Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.

According to Midway, the set is designed to let players "refine their skills" prior to getting to clobber the Man of Steel this holiday. However, considering that Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mortal-kombat-vs-dc-universe/) plays more like Mortal Kombat 3 than any of the more recent 3D fighters, we're not exactly sure how many of those skills will actually make the transfer.

Interesting. Wonder why they chose Shaolin instead of Deadly Alliance?

So are any of these games actually good?

In this thread's defense, it was started by a bot.

I heard that Deception is good even though it's lacking polish. I really, really liked Shaolin Monks. I heard that Armageddon sucks, but if you just want a lot of fanservice, you could do worse.

That depends on what you're looking for. Shaolin Monks was a great beat 'em up, especially playing co-op. They other two are decent fun too if you don't take your fighting games too seriously.

Unless they're new emulations, it wouldn't be a big deal. The stuff they've released (especially MK1 on the collector's version of Deception) has been really glitchy.

I like Aramageddon. It's pretty cool having all of the MK characters, and I liked the new custom fatality system. The create a character is solid as well IMO.

Deception is okay, but it's more worth picking up for the Chess Kombat mini-game. That should really be some sort of release on XBLA/PSN.

I haven't played too much of Shaolin Monks, but I've liked what I've played so far. It's certainly better than the previous spin-off attempts with Sub-Zero and Sonya.

If you're not getting this bundle just to collect it, you can find all three game really cheaply used now.

I'm not posting another thread since I think the bot made a dupe.

Read the other thread. An MK 3-pack similar to this was found down in Mexico a while back...I wonder what was up with that. Kinda odd they'd have a release in Spanish well before a release here in the US.

The Mexico box is a tad different too. Link,

There also appears to be a DBZ 3 pack in mexico too, hopefully we get a usa release someday.

You mean Sub-Zero and Jax. ;)

Also All the titles were solid IMHO. I just was wondering why they didn't choose Deadly Aliance over Shaolin Monks simply to try to follow the story line a little more closely, since their all bundled together. Prob. because D.A. was too dated perhaps?
