I was wondering if a wireless remote was made for the unit, or did you need
to use a Pioneer receiver that supports the the Laseractive through the com link?

My Laseractive came with a "Compatible Laserdisc Player Remote Control Unit CU-CLD085". It takes two AAA batteries, as Pioneer and Laserdisc logos on it, but nothing Laseractive-specfic. Pretty sure it works fine / wirelessly (there is no wire on the remote, it's IR), but my Laseractive is not currently plugged in so I can't test it at this exact moment.

It did come with a wireless remote control. My Laseractive was a floor model, and didn't come with one, so I ended up mail ordering one directly from Pioneer for $20 back in the day. And they put me on their mailing list for their laserdisc anime releases, which was pretty nice.

It's just a small generic Pioneer Laserdisc remote. Nothing special.

To expand on what he said, all pioneer laserdisc wireless remotes work with any pioneer laserdisc machine - just that some remotes will have special features that a different player may not have(or vice versa) - for example side b - which the laseractive doesn't have. So any pioneer laserdisc remote (even the simplest) will work for you.
NEC also retailed a laseractive player (these are very rare)
which was the pioneer one with the nec logo replacing the pioneer logo - I assume they used the same remote with the same frequencies but I don't know for sure on this. (And I am not sure if the nec model was released both in Japan and the u.s. or not.)

When I*bought my Laseractive off eBay, the guy didn't have a remote. After sifting through eBay for some months, I bought a CU-CLD085, which is what it supposedly came with. However, the on/off button on the remote doesn't do anything. Everything else works fine.
The only way you're going to get much use out of the remote is if you watch a lot of laserdisc movies (which I*actually do)... and even then, assuming you have one of the modules, you can do everything with a Genesis or TG-16 controller. Trying to find specific remotes can be surprisingly difficult, so unless you have a need for it, I'd say just skip it.

That is the right remote for the laseractive. However (and yeah this was really really dumb on pioneer's part) the on/off on the remote will not work when there is a control pac in the unit. Go figure. I have my laseractive plugged into one of the switchable power outlets on my receiver - when I am playing a game on the laseractive I just leave the laseractive on and it powers up with the receiver - since all my game systems are routed through the receiver I have to have the receiver on anyway.
The regular laserdisc player I use for movies also doesn't turn on/off through the remote - but since it is one of the very few (I think there were only two) pioneer laserdisc models to use a red laser I put up with the power/remote silliness.

And to expand on that expansion, the proper LA remote is pretty stripped down. Not only that, but you need a game module and controller to actually use any special features. So, you can buy any Pioneer remote and be good, but I wouldn't waste much money on one as really all you can do is basic transport controls.
As interesting as the Laseractive is as a console, it's pretty easy to see why it failed if you own one. The thing was really expensive and the laserdisc side of things is very lackluster. You could have easily bought a Sega CD set up (or Turbo Duo) and much better Laserdisc player for the same price or even less if you shopped around.
