I took my first visit to the Vintage Gaming Network (formerly, Davesclassics.com) , in years.

http://www.vg-network.com

I was greeted with this - an all red page that read:

Contact : turkopat-ix@turk.tc
DeFaCeR By TuRkOpAt-ix
SorrY AdmiN

God dammit, I miss davesclassics. Whoever took over that site totally fucked it up beyond all hope. It looks like a script kiddie took 'em down, which also doesn't say much about the security.

It looks fine to me, But then again I haven't been to the site before.

The site's fine. Whatever defacement you saw was fixed very quickly, and it's still run by Dave. You can blame the losers at ugo.com for stealing the davesclassics.com domain for the name change.

Refresh my memory, wasn't Dave's Classics that place that ... ah ... you know, had that stuff that you could, you know, download and play? I'm just askin'.

Funnily enough Dave's Videogame Classics was one of the sites I saved a local copy for some reason a while ago (has it really been 12 years?). I found it years later and uploaded it for properity. It's almost like a time capsule! LOL

Here ya go... http://www.users.uswest.net/~userid946/Dave's%20Video%20Game%20Classics.htm

I did the same thing with Hampster Dance too.. http://www.users.uswest.net/~userid946/hampster.htm

Oh God, my eyes! They burn! Aren't mid-90s websites great -- animated GIFs and all? :)

It's amazing how far emulation has come in a decade -- from two NES emulators (one of which was shareware) and a single SMS emulator, all the way to emulators for every console and computer imaginable.

BTW, your second link points to the same place as the first, so I couldn't look at Hampster Dance. It's probably better that way, though. :)

Fixed :)

To be honest I actually prefer the old websites. New ones just cram so much crap in (especially those pop up animated ad scripts you gotta take extra steps to stop). I like it nice and simple. Just show me the info I want, and call it a day :p

I thought a few British guys bought the domain..

I don't remember where I heard that.

Anyway - it seems to be back...
