Here's my finds from the final two days of July. I figured I'd wait until now to post these. :P

Wednesday: Fresh off the bus, I went to the flea market and found these things:

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/2008-07-30.jpg
Warcraft III Battle Chest is complete and it ran me $5.
Star Wars Rebellion (PC), Warcraft II Expansion (DOS), Diablo II expansion, Dr. Demento's 20th Anniversary Disc Two (Disc 1 wasn't there) :( and Dead or Alive - Nude were $1 a pop and Jamiroquai: Emergency on Planet Earth was $3.

Sadly, this one seller had a boxful of comics at five for a buck, and I told him I'd come back later. When I came back someone had already bought the box. :(

Thursday:
Half asleep, I wandered to the flea market and found most of these CDs for $6 total! The two CDs at the bottom rang me $3 for both.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/2008-07-31A.jpg
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/2008-07-31B.jpg

The CDs are:
Weird Al Yankovic: Greatest Hits Volume 1
Air: Pocket Symphony
MSDN Library, Visual Studio 6 Edition
Warcraft II
Starcraft: Brood War
Guy Spy in something or other
Windows 98 SE Upgrade CD key (no CD, for trade)
Windows ME Install CD key (no CD, for trade)
Office 2000 Pro (Not OEM / no license CDs, but are legit, for trade)
Afterlife (Sealed)
Barbie Detective 1 and 2 (What?)

The two CDs at the bottom of the second picture are magazine CDs. One includes a full version of Hidden and Dangerous Deluxe, and the other includes full versions of Descent, Star Control II, Red Baron, Zork 1-3, Battlecruiser 3000 AD and Betrayal at Krondor.

... And those Barbie games? I got them for MobyGames. My thirteen year old niece looked at the games I bought today and asked me what was wrong with me. I told her "Don't judge me." She looked at me funny for a while. :P

Hey guys, got some gaming goods over the week:
The most part comes from Yards and Flea since it is where the best prices and sometimes rare finds can be found(shame on you MERCADO LIVRE!)

Bought this sms stuff from someone who doesnīt know even for what system works!SCORE!
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff143/natinh0/Imagem044.jpg
A pretty good Light Gun pack but the point of the haul is without question, Vigilante, heard about all over my childhood and just now, after a decade i own mine although very common here in Brazil.
Paid 15R$ for the loot, just keep in mind that the averange price by sms cart goes around 5- 7,50 R$.
Got this 2 PS2 games for 9,5R$, well, pretty shitty games though.
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff143/natinh0/Imagem054.jpg

Back on Fleas again!

Being a huge fan of the arcade hit of this classic, i couldnīt hold myself and paid full price on this one, been hunting down for a long time.Didnīt play it yet but seems a very downgraded version.
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff143/natinh0/Imagem057.jpg
5R$

Finally some SS finds!
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff143/natinh0/Imagem052.jpg
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff143/natinh0/Imagem053.jpg
10R$ each, loose until i hit zonesega and printed the covers, look great!

Neo-Geo controller for some Samurai 2 slice and kill
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff143/natinh0/Imagem055.jpg
Really a STEAL, 20R$, and even works completelly great, no clean needed!
Snes stuff
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff143/natinh0/Imagem048.jpg

And finally, the best loot:
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff143/natinh0/Imagem045.jpg

Well I broke down and got a Wii. Actually I got two of them but one of them was more of a "find" then the other. I got:

system
2 remote/nunchuck combos
2 steering wheels
2 guns (one official, one Nyko pistol)
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles
Mario Galaxy
Mario Kart
No More Heroes
Smash Brothers Brawl
CSI something or other
TopSpin3
NCAA football 09
wii sports
Link's Crossbow training

Everything is complete and was bought new less than three months ago. $475 and it was mine. I don't know how long I'll keep it, but the half hour I've spent so far with it has been pretty fun.

Actually, I have three now. I just won another one on ebay about 5 minutes ago. See the way I collect is I buy low and sell high until I make enough to pay for the stuff I keep. So I just bought three Wii bundles at a low price and after I sell some of the stuff I should end up with a system and about six games for about $150. I'll just keep doing that until I even out. This method is a LOT easier with older systems, but it works fine with new stuff too, it just takes longer. That's how I got my 360 and DS collections, both of which now a pretty decent size.

I just bought an INTV at a yard sale for $10 and an INTV II off ebay or I would have taken one or the other.

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Ahem.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/2008-08-01.jpg

All of that ran me $28. ALL OF THAT. That's Microsoft Office 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Professional, Escape From Monkey Island, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, and Final Fantasy VII. I'm selling MS Office, FFVII and Win2K, not so sure about Monkey Island 4 yet. But that copy of Jedi Outcast? I'm keeping it and selling my boxless copy. :D

The best part about this was that one of the guys at the flea market I uh, compete against? He arrived a few minutes after I paid for all this crap. And I'm pretty sure he wasn't happy when he saw what I had in my bag.

He was probably like "no guey, pinche thundercat." Quoted from Munra se cae.

I noticed you pick up a lot of MS stuff. How much you selling that copy of MS 2K Professional?

Actually the guy's Asian American - he doesn't speak Spanish very well, as far as I can tell. I haven't really talked to him very much, but he doesn't seem like a bad guy, he's just... the competition. ;)

He mostly goes for electronic stuff anyway, and rarely goes for the software. He doesn't gamble on stuff as often as I do.

As for the cost of that Win2K? No idea. I'll post it on eBay tomorrow evening.

It depends, this software is pre-forced activation; and besides, even if it's used you can call M$ and ask them to activate it for free, all you have to do is prove that you own a legit copy by following the instructions shown on your screen. I've done this with my US English copy of XP Pro twice over the past four years - by calling Microsoft Mexico. ;)

As for how I find this stuff, I don't know. I just DO. I'm lucky like that.

Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2, The (PC) - .50?

I bought a generic portable system soft case about 2 to 3 years ago at a yardsale it was marked a buck I think I offered .50 maybe .25. I never noticed until this past winter that it had Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2 hidden away inside!

Defender

This is from the Atari 2600 bundle I bought at a yardsale about 2 months ago.

http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1374526&postcount=347

I found Defender in the back of the car about a month afterwards and keep forgetting to add it in one of my yardsale pictures. All of the 2600 games were in a shoe box and Defender somehow fell out.

SNES Console Only and Broken
Donkey Kong Country
F-Zero
Maximum Carnage
Star Fox
Super Mario World

Free

Friend let me have this stuff a few days ago. He couldn't get the SNES to work so I told him to bring it down to my house and I'd have a look at it so he brought down just the system since he knew I had all of the cords and he also brought down all of the games he had with it. I tried it out and it did the same thing for me (just a black screen when you turn it on) so he said I could have it since it's broken and he has no use for the games.

Non Find BS

First sale I went to today (Saturday) advertised a SNES & GameBoy games. I got to the sale only 2-3 minutes before it started as it said no early sales. SNES looked like it had all of the cords and included a Super GameBoy & a SNES Advantage and was marked $50[!]. Beside it was a box with about 20-25 regular GameBoy games each marked $5 but little to nothing that I needed. I would have grabbed a few if they were cheaper since they all had cases and a good chunk of them had manuals. I picked up Star Wars & Empire Strikes Back which were the only decent games I didn't own. I went up and offered $5 for both which was countered with a simple no so I put them back. This easily sets a record for me on the highest IAP I've seen on individual GameBoy games & on a SNES at a yardsale.

I absolutely hate sellers like that. They put an arbitrary price on something and now it's suddenly worth that much and they won't take any less for it. I say, good for them, they can keep their overpriced junk (not saying those games are junk, just stuff people try to sell in general) forever.

Only game purchase lately was Unreal Tournament III: Collectors Edition for the PC new at GameStop in Richmond for $20. Gave it a run a few days ago and it's alright. Thus far I prefer the 2k4 more but we'll see as time goes. The sniper riffle gives me lots of head shots.

Hit the flea market this morning and grabbed a few games. Picked up 4 complete sports games for the Saturn for $1 each. Yeah, yeah, but I needed them to complete the collection. I also picked up a few NES carts for $1 each. They were Paperboy, Toki, and Jeopardy Junior Edition.

Not game related, but I picked up a two pack of DVDs of Japanese monster movies. The 4 movies all star Gamera. I also got 3 English language anime VHS tapes for a quarter each. One is from the Garzey's Wing series and the other 2 are from the Esca Flowne series. Yeah, I had never heard of either of them either, but for a quarter, I said, "Why not?"

Pkmn quartz I think was made by a spanish speaking guy, so it has some funny spanish lines in there. Also funny is that instead of game boy at the top of the sticker it says "GAME MEN". I little weird, but funny.

I picked up Phoenix Wright: Trials & Tribulations (DS) new from Walmart for $20. For some reason, lately all I've seen in the line of games is Apollo Justice. So, I now have all three Phoenix Wright games.

A lot of the bootleg carts are actually fan-made hacks which the pirates steal and burn onto carts. Sucks, but what can ya do.

Anyway, yesterday's finds:

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/2008-08-02a.jpg

The PS Elements is going to eBay; the other thing? I bought it because you can never have too few PC fans in a city that routinely reaches 110 degrees by noon.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/2008-08-02b.jpg

All of that? $5! I misunderstood the guy selling the stuff, he'd told me that everything was fifty cents but then told me everything was $2 a pop. I hadn't seen the little sign in the box with CDs... after some discussing he took $5 for everything. Awesome. It's almost as if the heat makes everyone unwilling to argue with me. :D

Edit:
Oh yeah, I forgot! I got Half-Life for the PS2, near mint, for three bucks! :D

This weekend was bare consoles at the rummage sales:

http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/6162/barese7.jpg

The Genesis/SegaCD combo was $3.00...no wires/controllers and nothing else game related at the sale.

The SNES and Super Metroid were $5.00 at another sale, again, bare and no other game stuff in sight.

The NES GBA SP with 4 games was $15, no charger, but it charged with an adapter I previously found at Goodwill, and plays great.

And the 2 next-gen titles are the last gasp of the Blockbuster $14.99 and under BOGO sale.

An odd, but not too bad, weekend.

I absolutely hate sellers like that. They put an arbitrary price on something and now it's suddenly worth that much and they won't take any less for it. I say, good for them, they can keep their overpriced junk (not saying those games are junk, just stuff people try to sell in general) forever.

When the lady said "no" I actually reacted by telling her "I won't pay that much" (refering to the IAP). What I really should have done (as politely as possible) is ask her if she would change her mind if they were still sitting on the stuff at noon but hindsight is 20/20 as they say. This was only a few blocks away from my house I could have easily walked back to the sale if I went back, but knowing my luck and the way the prices and mood were at this sale they probably would just pack anything left at about 11:30 if they feared that I'd be coming back to try and nag them to drop the price :D I feel the same way about people that have high prices on stuff that ain't moving at a yardsale that they won't budge on.

http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/1874/fleamarket8308cu9.th.jpg (http://img144.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fleamarket8308cu9.jpg)

Duke Nukem Time To Kill Complete (PSX) - $1

$1 was the IAP which I paid.

Ric Flair: To Be The Man Hardback Cover - $2

IAP was $5 offered $2 which was taken. Looks like it was bought at a library sale but still well worth it IMO not really knowing anything about the value of used books.

SNES model 2 With AV Cord, 1st party controller & 3rd party controller
Donkey Kong Country
Killer Instinct
Street Fighter II
Sonic Blast (CIB)

$10

Was looking at the SNES stuff and the seller said he was asking $15. He also said that he wanted $30 for a Playstation he had with about 5 games, & $30 for a model 1 Genesis with about 15 games all common or shit sandwich. I pointed out that the SNES didn't have a power adaptor and offered $10 for it along with Sonic Blast out of the Genesis stuff which was taken after thinking it over for a few seconds.

Mr Bones (Complete)
Saturn Bomberman (Complete)
Spot Goes To Hollywood (Complete)
Three Dirty Dwarfs (Complete)
Bug Too (Disc Only)

$8

IAP on the Saturn games was $2 each, I offered $6 which was counter with $8. I actually bought them from the same guy I got the SNES stuff from but I didn't notice them till after I bought the SNES since they were a little ways down on a different table away from his other video game stuff. He said that they were his son's so he wouldn't bend too much on the price. It didn't really bother me though as I only really see Saturn stuff 1-3 times a year and it's usually all crap or mega common (think one of the 3 free games that used to come with a Saturn) so seeing something like Saturn Bomberan and some other worthwhile Saturn stuff cheap in the wild in my neck of the woods is definitely a nice change of pace.

No tax weekend!

We have no tax up here in Fairbanks and I surprisingly find it kind of annoying since I like collecting change and cashing it for special purchases and all I ever get now is a penny here or there so it adds up really slowly.

Anyway on the buying side nothing much to report

Final Fantasy Chronicles (ps1, complete) - $4.99

Even though this auction technically finished in July I got the items on Saturday, so we'll just count it as August.

I won an eBay auction for 20 issues of Video Games and Computer Entertainment magazines for $40. It included all of 1989 and most of 1990. All were in pretty decent shape except the first three issues (which I already had) and January 1990 (the cover is pretty beat). I was able to fill in some serious holes and even replace a few issues that were on the battered side.

Ever since I had thoughtless stored my game magazine collection in a colander that was a shed years ago (and thus got water damage), I've been working to rebuild that collection ever since. This completes a grail for me as I have now reacquired every VG&CE issue I used to have.

I got some decent finds at my closest thrift store, which I sadly usually leave empty-handed:

http://www.inverteddungeon.com/triacesuperfan/findsaugust.jpg

First thing I spotted was the Master System games. Really common stuff, I know, but for $0.59 a piece I can't complain. It's too bad they don't have the manuals, though. It kind of frustrates me buying them because it was almost exactly one year ago when I found my first Master System games in the wild and I bought a nice Genesis lot on eBay with a converter so I could play them. To make a long story short, the thief told me lie after lie, and I never got the package or my money back. Now I'm too bitter and stubborn to spend even more money on eBay for it, so I probably won't be playing the games until I find a really cheap converter or Master System in the wild.

Moving on, I picked up WarCraft II and its Next 350 Levels expansion disc for $2.99 and StarCraft for another $2.99. Not exactly valuable but desirable enough to be decent sale fodder. I was surprised at how much I got for a similar set last summer.

The coolest item from that thrift was definitely the Mario Quiz Cards, though, which set me back $1.99. It's not really a trivia game, just an educational tool, but I love the Mario-themed art on each card. I pulled out a couple so you guys can see. Most of the card packs are still sealed.

I picked up Parappa the Rapper at the same thrift I got the aforementioned Intellivision games. It's a great find for me because I've really been wanting to add it to my collection. Just a couple months ago my boyfriend was playing UmJammer Lammy and asked if we had it and was disappointed when I said no. :P It's missing the fold-out instructions, but $2.99 still seems like a great deal to me considering how much I see even loose discs selling for on eBay.

Jesus, you too? I finally managed to pick up a copy of Parappa back in June, and I paid $5 for it. I thought it was complete but when I got home I realized that it only had the cover art, and no manual! What is wrong with these people?! Argh!

Also, if you're not planning on selling or trading away that copy of Starcraft, I believe that you can use the CD key on the back to download the game AND the expansion for free from Blizzard. ;)

I dont know about all of you but this weekend was a terrible weekend for deals. Also, no one seemed to want to haggle. Actually the first time no one at a flea wanted to haggle this year... Maybe it was the hot weather?

The only interesting story I have is an older guy, prob mid 60's, with a 2600 and 4 games asking $25. I asked him if he would take $15 for the Atari. He replied - "The what?" I said "Atari." He said "Where is it?" I said, trying not to laugh, "On the ground in a box." I then proceeded to pick it up and show him. He then replied "No. I am gonna have to ask for $25. These things are pretty rare anymore." I decided to pass on it for 2 reasons...The first being he had to have me find it and then he had to look at the price sticker before deciding and I already have a 4 switch model at home.

I did however buy a Gameboy Color - Lime green. She was asking $10. I offered her $8 and she replied "No." I walked away and came back 10 minute later and told her I was back and I guess I would have to give her $10. She asked if I wanted any games and I replied "No." Lol, she was asking $10 per game for Gameboy original and color games. A bit steep for me.
