Do you think these will become rare since it seems Sony's phasing out all backwards compatibility for the PS3?
Just curious... I want to get one, but I can't seem to find them, lately.

All I see for the PSone are the third-party shitty ones. Trying to find The Sony ones are a bitch.

PSOne compatibility is going away? Why would they remove the software emulator?

Oops... I forgot about PS1 BC. But I guess PS2's BC status is in more 'danger' than the PSone.
But I'm just having a hard time fining a Sony reader, and I've been looking for about a month now. When my brother-in-law comes down, he brings his PS2 stuff. My local Best Buy never seems to have one.
I try not to go into Gamestop unless it's a matter of life and death...

Actually, when I bought mine, I found it at a local KMart, on clearance for $1.50. If you have a KMart near you, you might wanna check there-- not only is it a great deal, no one shops at KMart, so you might actually find one.
I picked one up back in January when I first got my PS3 and haven't seen one since. I was going to use it real quick and then return it, but forgot all about it.

If you have a Circuit City...try there. Our local CC's have 4-5 each.
Besides, backwards compatibility is not going away. Common sense would dictate that Sony is working on a 100% software emulator for PS2 games as we speak (just like their fully functional PS1 emulator). They want some of that downloadable game cash, just like MS is getting with their "Xbox Originals". This will happen...I'm calling it right now. Follow the $$$, as they say.

Diskoboy: if your local Best Buy doesn't have these in stock just order them online. I even did the work for you: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8150065&type=product&id=1161732981611. Thank me later:)

I bought through Amazon back in February and am pretty sure they still always have it in stock (for a hair under $15, I think).

Thanks for all the help, everyone - I found one.
The Target by the mall had one left, so I bought it.

I just got my 60gb PS3 a couple of weeks ago, and needed one. Oddly enough, almost everywhere I went had new ones (most places even had a bunch of new ones), but I couldn't find one single used one. For an item that most people will really only need to use once, that struck me as odd.
