After playing Me and My Katamari and Gradius Collection on the PSP, I've become very frustrated with the controls of the console. Is there any way or any adapter that enables one to play PSP games using a PS1 or PS2 controller? I'd kill for a way right now as I'm itching to get farther in Katamari and maybe even buy the JAP shooter collections out there.

If you have an early hardware version of fat PSP, there was a TV output device that was made, which included PS2 Dual Shock controller support (no rumble). The device is obviously no longer in production.

If you can verify that you have an early model fat PSP, and can get your hands on the device, it requires taking apart your system and having a moderate to advanced ability in opening up and modifying the internals (I believe the device goes into the flat ribbon cables in a few areas).

I'm scouring google for some info on the device, but since the PSP Slim came out, any combinaiton of the words PSP TV or AV out are making it hard to find. From what I've seen of the device in action the ONLY thing it did well was add controller support which is exactly what you want!

...okay, the name of the device was PSP2TV.

Again, it's not a fast and easy solution ... but aside from doing a home-cooked mod, that's your only option.

Though, I've played hours upon hours of Katamari on my PSP and was never frustrated with the controls, even if they did give me a bit of thumb cramps.

That's neat. I really hope they eventually come out with a PSP media player on a main system where the PSP itself isn't required...like how the GBA carts could be played on the Cube. So many PSP games that deserve a bigger screen without hooking the PSP to the TV.....

The Katamari games have always given me thumb cramps from the ones on the PS2 to the newest one on the 360.

Oh hell yes, Beautiful Katamari made my hands numb ... something about the way the analog sticks were spaced out on the 360 controller.

Love all the Katamari games though ... even if they do contrubute to my carpal tunnel syndrome.
