I picked up an import copy of Police 24/7 (Police 911 here in the states) along with one of the listed compatible usb cameras (the Creative Labs CT6840). I can get the game to boot and recognize my gun with no problem, but no matter what I try it won't recognize the camera. I've read that this is not Eye Toy compatible, but I'm tempted to pick on up and try it.
Anybody have this up and running? I'm using a V7 fat system for my testing. No matter what I try, it always says USB camera not connected.

Police 911 never made it here in the states.

Didn't one of the Monster Rancher PS2 games use a camera? If it's a different one than you're using, maybe give that a whack.
Is there someplace in the menu system where you have to tell the game to look for the camera? I dunno, just a shot in the dark there.

Then it's a good thing I bought Police 24/7 and not Police 911.. This is the import version, as stated above in my original post.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of any other games that used a non Eye Toy camera. I'll have to check into that to see if it has any more information about what's needed.
Thanks!

Lucky ducky, I've always wanted to play the PS2 version of that but it's just out of my price range. Game + Hyperblaster + camera = ouch. Hope you get it working; I know it's not EyeToy compatible, but I didn't realize that you could use multiple other kinds of cameras with it.
What was the one that they recommended? The Omnivision or some such?

So far the whole thing has been pretty cheap. I had one of the generic wireless guns that is compatible with GC, GC2, or Hyperblaster. The camera I picked up was only $15 so that wasn't a biggie and the game was about $15 shipped from the UK. Course, it's not working yet, so my costs may go up! :-)
The camera list I found is:
USB Cameras compatible with Police 24/7: Aiptek HyperVcam Home/ Mobile Amitech AWK-300 TEVion MD 9308 D-Link DU-C300 D-Link/Link AV LVC100 Hawking Tech UC-110 Creative Labs WebCam3, WebCam Plus CT6840 Samsung Anycam MPC-M10 Mtekvision Zeca MV402 MediaForte PC Vision 300 Terratec TerraCam Pro OmniVision OV51+ Trust SpaceCam 200/300 Lifetec LT 9388 BestBuy EasyCam U TCE NetCam 310u Medion MD9388 Webeye 200B
I went with the Creative CT6840 since I found a site selling them new, but apparently there are different versions of them. From what I have found, it's the Onmivision chip set in the camera that makes the difference, so I'm still looking to see if any of these is still available. I also found reference to the game being compatible with the original Guncon, but I haven't tried that yet.

I've got nothing else to offer on this except to say good luck.
When I first played Police 911 in the arcade I thought it was just one of the best games I had played in a long time. In fact I think it is the only game I have ever spent money to actually beat in an arcade. To get that same enjoyment at home might be something to look into.

I had no idea this had a console release. Please keep us updated, as if you can get it working, then I will want to get a set up for myself!

I've found out that the only camera this works with is the Konami Capture Eye. This is apparently the only game that uses the Eye, so it's a bit hard to locate. But, I've got one sitting on my desk to be tried out tonight, so hopefully it will work. I also found a copy of the Japanese version of the game (Keisatsukan) that is a bit different than the Euro release.
Unfortunately, needing to get the Capture Eye pushed the cost of the whole package up a pretty fair amount, but if it works I think it will be worth it. Has to be better than using a Dual Shock to play it.
I'll report back with more details once I've tried it out.

So I'd like to play Police 24/7(Police 911 in the States), but I am not sure what is required for me to play it. Is it at all possible to play the game on a US PS2? Would I need a PAL PS2 and a PAL TV? I know someone has talked about buying this before, but I couldn't seem to find the thread(searched Police and Playstation in Modern Gaming).
Is there any way for me to buy this and have this work? If so, what would I need outside of the game? (From memory there is a certain list of USB Cameras that work with it).
Thanks
Dave

The only way I was able to get this to work was by using the Japanese version of the game. The UK version never did work right for me, but I believe that may have been due to needing to patch it for NTSC.
The only camera that works with the game is the Konami Capture Eye. It also needs a Hyper Blaster, but I think it may work with a Guncon 1.
It's tricky to set up, but it does work pretty well once you get it all together.

Ah hokay, for some reason I was thinking it only was out in the UK. but from the looks of things the UK Version might be cheaper anyway. I really want to play this game..
If it takes too long for me to find this I might just have to buy a Police 911 cab....and Police 911 2....and Mocap Boxing..

Another user asked about this and reminded me that I never posted my findings. I've ended up with both the Japanes and UK versions of the game. With the Capture Eye camera, I've been able to get the Japanese version to work fine. The UK version never recognizes that the camera is there, but I did have to patch it to get past the PAL issue so that may have stepped on something.
I've only played it with a Hyper Blaster, but I believe it will work with a Guncon 1 as well.
With the Japanese version, I had good luck playing. I did have to put up a front light to give it enough contrast to pick up my movements reliably. But it does work and feels pretty accurate in tracking.
The whole package got a bit expensive as the Japanese version and the camera are hard to track down, but it was worth it!
