Hey guys,

I'm looking for the name of a punching arcade machine. Ill describe what I can remember.

About 15 years ago there was this punching arcade machine. I can remember that there were 4 levels (and you could choose any of them as a grade). The first level was a robber on the street, that took your girlfriend. You had 3 punches to knock him out. The 4th level was some sort of huge crab monster that was destroying a city.

Unfortunately I can't remember a brand or company, I was like 6-7 years old. The setup of the punching device was like this one:

So no hanging ball, but a punching part that has to be smacked down.

Can anyone Identify this machine, and let me revive a youth semtiment which I actually never played because I was to little for it back then ^^;

Taito lost a class action suit for $50,000 to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) because of injuries sustained by players of Sonic Blast Man. The CPSC alleges that between 1991 and 1994, Taito failed to report about 70 cases in which young players fractured or injured wrists and arms as a result of hitting the Blast Man's punching pad.

Good luck finding an arcade that still has one.

Sonic Blast Man. Ahh, the memories....

We had an arcade near us, that had it in the mid-90's.

I hit it so hard once, I couldn't move my wrist for 3 days after. It was black & blue for almost a month. The punching mechanism has ALOT of resistance, and a solid steel bar behind the punching mat. You will hurt yourself playing SBM, no matter how strong you are - it's inevitable.

You've been warned....

These games are all over Korea. Most of the time they're out in the street by batting cages.

The first one almost broke my hand. I didn't attempt the second one, although it did play an "interesting" rendition of Eye of the Tiger as I walked by. And no, class action lawsuits don't exist in Korea. They just tape up the target and put it back out on the street :)

Good luck finding an arcade that still has one.

One arcade down here in Mexicali, Mexico still had one running and in decent condition, but the camera wasn't working the last time I went there.

I don't remember the arcade's name, but it's in Plaza La Cachanilla, right above the food court. If you're ever around town, you might want to take a look.
